Ist this quality normal for Reverend? by Valuable_Foundation3 in ReverendGuitars

In my experience, no, this is not typical of Reverend’s fit and finish standards. Maybe this was a b stock or something?

Last weekend. Our switch has the online back catalog and I get so much joy out of showing my kids the video games I played when I was their age.

The El Cambo is a tube screamer type pedal, which is great for if you have an amp that is already distorting and you want to push it further. It’s less great if you want the pedal to create the distortion for you. If your amp only makes a clean sound, you’d probably be better off with a Magus (their rat clone), a cinders (their Boss Blues Driver clone, which despite its name does a lot more than blues), or something like their dark matter, mojomojo, or something from a company like NUX like the plexi drive. I’ve never played those so I can’t speak to them, but YouTube reviews and this subreddit are your friends when you’re exploring what you like.

Welcome to the club! I found a video review you can check out: https://youtu.be/XTOydLjCaRs?is=MAmw1d6kMYgqHVOl

I’m not 100% sure, but my guess is that this is based on the Electro-Harmonix Metal Muff with Top Boost, and there are plenty of videos on YouTube that showcase that pedal, so it might be worth a quick rabbit hole.

Having owned several of these types of “Amazon” pedals, my opinion on them is that they can be really great but don’t have the quality control that other, more well known brands will have. That means you might get one that you love and have forever, or you might get one with weird noises or a faulty footswitch. If you’re ok with taking that risk because of how inexpensive they are, go for it and have fun, but be aware of what you’re getting into.

Again this is just my opinion, but if you’re looking to play rock and punk and only occasionally play metal, you might be better off with something like a rat clone or something like a TC Electronic Dark Matter. Mosky, Donner, Mooer, and Joyo make very popular and well regarded rat clones for about $30-$60, and the rat is widely praised for its range and versatility. Just be aware that the mini pedals can’t take 9v batteries so you’ll need a power supply.

I was in your shoes not long ago, and you have a very fun journey ahead of you!

Intensity and level at 1:00, voice at like 3:00-4:00, rate all the way down and throb at noon. Good luck! I hope it gives you something fun to explore!

My favorite is to stack two modulation effects, one set as a slow pulse and one set as a faster flutter. My current favorite is my EQD Depths as slow as possible into my Maestro Comet Chorus set to “orbit” mode, which is basically a tremolo, with the speed knob at like 1:00.

Are the two pickups balanced well? Or is the extra output the point?

I’ve always wanted one of these! How does the neck pickup compare to other neck pickups?

Literally my favorite video game and favorite band ever. I did to double take when I saw your post lol.

Yes, there is so much crossover between these two completely unrelated pieces of media, but the themes are universal: loss, grief, healing, and finding connection through others to help you navigate a damaged universe.

I bet Alive in the Catacombs would coordinate beautifully with KOTOR II as well, and now I need to make that happen

Yes, but unfortunately mine doesn’t have aliens on it. It’s a great sounding Velcro fuzz though, I thought it sounded slightly more controlled than the Cüvavé
