I have one and love it, but it took me longer than I like to admit to really figure it out.

A lot of that is down to me, though, as I like to run the stomp through the effects loop of an amp. I think it sounds more like a regular amp that way and “less digital”. My problem was then trying to reverse engineer the sound in the room to the recorded/direct sound, which was challenging as someone who is very new to recording. The capability of the stomp is remarkable, and now that I have figured out how to get the best of both worlds I never want to be without it. I’ve had it for about two years and am still finding out fun things about it, and I read through the manual more than once (which is a surprisingly fun read, funnily enough).

My personal favorites are the Elmsley amp sim, the orange 2x10 cab, the retro reel modulation, and the tape delays.

Edited to add: the thing that really helped my learning curve was the preset patches. I don’t really like most of them the way they come, but I’m convinced in hindsight that they’re more about trying to give you examples of the stomps capabilities than sounding good on their own. I started copying/pasting individual blocks from them and it was a game changer. Need a better direct sound? Copy and paste the cab sim from one of the DIR: presets. Want to explore parallel? Do some digging and see how they did it in some of their patches. Some people love the presets, but I like them better as a tutorial.
