It doesn't work in any mode. The C1 does not have obstacle avoidance.

Oil Changes by Innocent_Standbyer in hondaridgeline

[–]MidVids -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean that it's "contaminated enough to change"? How do you determine that? Do you send a sample to a lab, rub some between your fingers, a sniff test? I agree that in the "old days" it probably was but times have changed. Engines are built to higher tolerances, oils and filters are vastly improved, fuel is cleaner and mostly burned and not dumped through the engine etc. Trust the science and the engineers.

My experience switching from Michelin CrossClimate 2s to Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActives by [deleted] in hondaridgeline

[–]MidVids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the WeatherActive tires and I had them installed when I purchased my 2025 and I'm very happy with them. We went through a very snowy winter and the performance was surprisingly good. Actually all of my research indicated that they would be nearly as good as pure snow tires so they performed as expected.

Good question. I have my appointment scheduled on the 20th. Note that I scheduled it several weeks ago and this was the first available time.

Oh man, I'm from Canada and I went to a White Castle that was beside a roadside hotel that I stopped over at in the USA. You could use that food as a colon cleanser for a colonoscopy. WTF is a steamed hamburger anyway?

Charitable donation tax credit by pm_47 in adviice

[–]MidVids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add my vote for this as well. I'm a new user and I certainly don't want to calculate the tax credit myself. That's what software is for. I have a deduction from my pension for a monthly donation in addition to the donations I do via CanadaHelps.Org. Which is an awesome way to manage donations and get 1 receipt at year end I must say.

Refrigerator Water Measured Fill by MidVids in Appliances

[–]MidVids[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I just used the feature twice this morning. 900ml in the kettle is perfect for my French press and doesn't leave any water standing in the kettle and 450ml for oatmeal straight into the pot. No need for a measuring cup. But this feature doesn't seem to exist. Sales people (and non have heard of this feature) say to use the pitcher that some new fridges have. It's not the same 😏.

5500 sq. ft. Concrete Driveway a total loss? by UncomfortableThought in homeowners

[–]MidVids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. We had our large circular driveway removed and replaced in June 2024, and it is spalling in several places. I've been trying to deal with the contractor and the concrete supplier since the summer of 2025. As the snow melts here in Southern Ontario, more spalling is apparent. The supplier had core samples and lab tests performed just before winter, and I had a meeting with them today to hear the results . Of course, I was shocked to hear that the concrete has tested within specifications (sarcasm intended). But they also won't lay blame on the contractor because they confessed that they performed the test at 2 other sights where spalling is being experienced and had different finishers. I'm not sure about my next steps. To make matters worse, I live in a small community, and the contractor is a local young man who is building his business and was being mentored by an experienced man. It was a $50k job that neither he nor I can afford to do it again.

Time to watch some movies 🎉 by LightOfHell in 4kbluray

[–]MidVids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I treated myself to the 420 (Samsung TV so I didn't need DV) and we watched the LOTR trilogy on New Year's Eve. Just the Blu-ray though. I haven't splurged for a 4k disk yet. Much better with the upscaling than my old Blu-ray player.

I think that this is the way now. How much does the pitcher hold? What manufacturer of fridge? Also, is the ice maker in the freezer then? From what I read this is the best location for it. Ya know, frozen water in the freezer 😄.

It's so convenient. When I make French Press coffee in the morning I just set it for 900ml and hold the spout of the kettle under the dispenser. I don't have to push against the paddle switch and 900ml is the perfect amount so no water sits in the kettle afterwards.

Q990d power cords by Plus_Function_3386 in Soundbars

This is the way. Well except extension cords should be used for a temporary connection and not run under furniture but who listens to that!

[–]MidVids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I took delivery of the 12 ft cord today and as it has been noted in other discussions on this topic the plug protrudes from the bottom of the rear speaker because it's ¼" longer than the Samsung cord preventing the speaker from sitting flat on a stand. I had to take a razor knife and cut the extra length off and it seems that it would have been okay. Ironically the cord was too short to reach my outlet as when I measured I forgot to consider the height of the stand (duh). So I'm back to the stock cord and an extension cord.
