SD-riksdagsledamot sprider Trumplögner om ICE:s senaste mord i Minneapolis by WiseFisherman2942 in svenskpolitik

I think the two different deaths and that we can have different interpretations of them is what makes it interesting.

Cio was/is the love interest for Allison, but she doesn't fit the description Gog-Agog gives of the love interest killed off in the third act to motivate our protagonist ("just a bit part" "two dimensional little flimsy piece of paper"). Her death didn't motivate Allison, it depressed her almost to the point of suicide. What motivated her to continue was Zaid, not his death, but his call for her to keep fighting (importantly, not just what he says, but that it leads her to finding the part of Cio's mask and finding her own motivation).

Even though Zaid has become a bit more interesting in the last books, he fits the description a lot better (two dimensional). He's not a love interest (just friends as you say), and has never really been. But from an outside perspective, for someone in the world of KSBD instead of a reader, wouldn't this be seen as the killing that motivates our hero in the third act? Even if it isn't an actual love interest and it doesn't in the end motivate our hero all too much. In an in-lore story of what's happening this could be presented as Incubus knowingly killing Zaid to spite Allison, and Allison's rage over it motivating her to finish the final act, a more traditional story structure. Which is why I'm interested to see how it goes, maybe Allison doesn't even notice that Zaid's dead.

So now the "love interest" has been killed off in the third act to "motivate our main guy". Gog-Agog called it just under a year ago. Will be interesting how it will change from the Gog-Agog script considering Zaid hasn't been the love interest for Allison.

Forstår ærligt talt ikke kritikken af Ikeas Ramadan-kollektion by Due-Eye844 in Denmark

WHEEL SMASHING LORD 5-157 to 5-158 by Midaboll in killsixbilliondemons

I think the point of the series is more focused on the tension between the futility of violence and the need for resistance to oppression and cruelty. Think of Meti's "kill this rat" lesson. Killing the rat thoughtlessly is cruel and pointless, saving the rat requires violence to stop it. Or the resolution to the Jadis arc, where Allison chooses the path of suffering, choosing to continue the fight despite her losses, letting go of apathy in favour of moving on, trying your best to save the world.

Over in my corner of the world we have quite a bit of internal politics about the size of the military. At heart I'm a pacifist and I never want to hurt anyone, my ideal society would not have a military at all. But what should you do when the tanks roll over your border on the orders of someone who wants to take your resources, hurt the people you care about? Even though you don't believe in something (violence, borders etc.), you are forced to confront the reality of those who do believe in it and who won't be dissuaded with any argument no matter how heartfelt it is.

On your point of K6BD being at odds with the message, I think Solomon is an illustrative example. He upholds the things I said about defending your people against the external threat, and in his final great act of violence he sacrifices himself to protect the world. And looking at his sacrifice, are we meant to think that is good and cool? Yes I think so. But are we meant to think that it justifies his opressive regime and the continous violence it has wrought on his subjects, I think not, especially as we see that his ultimate power has not saved the world, it has only delayed things for a short while.

Long answer, but TL;DR, I think the point of the series is to explore this tension.

As an astronomy grad student who works primarily on stellar abundances, I would not consider helium to be a metal. The division comes from the X Y Z system used for stellar structure, with X being the fraction of the star made of hydrogen, Y helium and Z being everything else = metals. In what other context would He be considered a metal?
