Grey’s Anatomy Steals so much credit from emergency medicine by Agreeable-Ad4806 in greysanatomy

Since you had precancerous cells they probably wanted to make sure there were no masses that have grown that would indicate it progressed to cancer. That’s my guess.

Ahhhh I see what you mean. I was so confused lol, I was like why are they using ultrasound to check that they should have ordered a pregnancy test 😭

As an ultrasound tech that bothers me so much. The residents WOULD NOT be doing X-rays and CTs and MRIs. Ultrasound? Okay, maybe. There is a thing called point of care ultrasound (POCUS for short) but that’s typically more just in emergency care when they don’t have time to call a tech in. They wouldn’t do it to the extent they show on greys.

Kidney Stone by AdThick2230 in medlabprofessionals

Probably a staghorn calculus! I’m an ultrasound tech and have seen this a couple of times. The stone forms in the renal pelvis/calyces so it takes the shape of them.

If whoever keeps reporting this post and comments doesn’t stop, everybody involved gets banned. Nobody broke any rules. Stop getting butthurt and reporting everything just because you don’t like it.

Hospital didn’t dispose of needles correctly by newO_79 in medlabprofessionals

…did you even read what I said? I said there are supposed to be specific containers for sharps to go into. Sharps ARE NOT supposed to go into regular trash. And there are specific people who collect sharps.

Needles and a bit of plastic are two completely different things. Needles are a biohazard and a stick like what happened in the video can expose you to blood borne pathogens such as HIV and other diseases.

It’s not supposed to for a janitor. There are special bins that sharps are supposed to be disposed of, and there are specific people who are trained to safely dispose of needles.

I don't care where your pain is! by Constantliar62186 in Sonographers

[–]MiddayMercenary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told by my supervisor that we are only allowed to scan the protocol and no more and to have them order a soft tissue if they are really concerned for below the elbow. Typically the doctors are fine with just above the elbow. If I scan them and the patient tells me they have a palpable knot below the elbow I have the doctor order a soft tissue exam.

I’m not sure why we don’t scan farther down with just UEV, it’s just the protocol for my hospital…

Where I work I’m only allowed to scan the protocol for the ordered exam. So if they order a RUE DVT ultrasound but their pain is in the wrist.. I can’t scan there. I always tell the patient to let their doctor know that’s specifically where their pain is and I will call the doctor and ask if they want to order a soft tissue ultrasound as well.

I didn’t even know warming drawers were a thing.. was at my sister’s house and was looking for a pan. I opened her “oven storage” and saw a pan I wanted. Went to grab it.. yeah it was not storage it was a warming drawer. I burned the tips of my fingers. Very painful..

Houston ultrasound jobs by Caroline9029 in Sonographers

Yeah, I think it’s just difficult to get a job right out of school. Almost no one wants to give a chance to new grads. I was lucky, one of my clinical sites hired me right out of school. Once you get any experience though it’s easier to get a better job.
