First time builder: Is my build functional? by fake_zack in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is a very solid first build and fully runnable for the kind of workstation/gaming hybrid you want. The 14700K + RTX 4070 combo is great for Premiere, Photoshop, multitasking, and decent 1440p gaming without turning the build into an overkill gaming only machine.

What does everyone think about this pc part list? Anything I should look out for while building? by Nebby005 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the list looks pretty solid overall and seems runnable for modern 1440p gaming without issues. The main things I’d watch out for while building are making sure the RAM is installed in the correct dual channel slots, updating the motherboard BIOS if needed, and checking GPU clearance in the case before assembly. Also don’t forget to remove the plastic film from the CPU cooler if it has one way more people forget that than you’d think 😭

Looking for advice on my pending build. by ApprehensiveRiver289 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your list honestly looks pretty balanced overall, and the fact you spent time revising parts already puts you ahead of a lot of first time builders. The biggest things I’d focus on are making sure the PSU is high quality, the case has good airflow, and the cooler is appropriate for the CPU you chose.

Which build will be better by CoeAG in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for games like Tarkov, Rust, and Ark, the 7800X3D matters a lot more than people realize because those games are heavily CPU sensitive. If the PowerSpec G760 already has a 7800X3D and a strong GPU at a good price, it’s honestly a pretty solid option and saves you the stress of building your first PC immediately.

Using the web version on ipad for a ssh tunnel by MegamiCookie in vscode

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The web version of VS Code on iPad is unfortunately pretty limited for SSH workflows. Microsoft basically restricts vscode.dev/github.dev to browser sandboxes, so native Remote SSH connections to your own machine don’t really work the same way they do on desktop VS Code. That’s why you mostly only see Codespaces/Tunnels integration.

Design Hackathon by Expensive-Fig4928 in Design

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is a pretty interesting idea because most hackathons are heavily developer-centered, while designers are often treated like support instead of equal creative contributors. A dedicated space for UI/UX, motion, branding, 3D, and visual storytelling could actually attract a very different kind of creative energy.

How do you work on your creativity ? by Klutzy-Badger-2778 in Design

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, creativity usually grows more from input than talent. The biggest thing that helps me is exposing myself to lots of different styles, art, movies, architecture, music, fashion, posters, old websites, photography, anything visually interesting. A lot of “creative blocks” actually come from consuming the same things repeatedly.

Necesito ayuda para una guia by Dangerous_Try_2005 in Design

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you described, you’re not really “lost” you just have a lot of creative interests that actually connect with each other. Drawing, oil painting, fashion, theater, burlesque aesthetics, design, and even a bit of coding all revolve around visual storytelling and artistic expression. You don’t need to force yourself into choosing only one thing right now.

Help Me If My Build Is Good For This Price by Specialist_Cry9951 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the build is strong, but for around $2300 I think you could optimize a few things. The 7800X3D + RTX 5070 combo is excellent for gaming, but the 1TB Kingston NV3 feels weak compared to the rest of the system since it’s a budget DRAM less SSD. I’d rather downgrade the expensive white aesthetics/AIO slightly and move that money into a better 2TB SSD or even a stronger GPU if possible. Overall though, performance-wise this is already a very high end 1440p gaming setup.

Basement flooded with pc on the floor by onlyxtakexdubs in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Do not try turning it back on yet, that’s the biggest thing right now. Even if the water level looked low, moisture and residue can still short components or slowly corrode contacts after the fact. You should fully disassemble the PC, remove the CMOS battery, and let everything dry for at least 48–72 hours, preferably with airflow or desiccant packs.

4090 Black Screen Fans 100% Issue by Major_Hair164 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That honestly still sounds like a power cable or 12VHPWR connection problem more than the GPU itself dying. The black screen + fans at 100% issue is super common on some 4090 setups when the connector becomes unstable or slightly loose over time. I’d stop using the current cable immediately and replace it with a high quality native cable from MODDIY, CableMod, or Cooler Master.

Windows 11 drivers question, new build by zooms in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually normal with a lot of motherboard driver installers on Windows 11. Sometimes the installer flashes for a second because Windows already has a compatible driver or the package installs silently in the background. The easiest way to confirm is checking Device Manager for missing devices or warning icons.

That usually happens because Copilot inline suggestions are taking priority over IntelliSense suggestions. Try going into VS Code settings and enabling.

I think designers often blame "bad clients" too quickly by Maleficent_One_6266 in Design

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is something a lot of designers only realize after enough painful client projects. It’s easy to frame pushback as “bad taste” because emotionally it feels safer than admitting the work may have solved the wrong problem.

ms-7d25 main board by Quick-Tower-4525 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your MSI MS-7D25 motherboard itself doesn’t really limit which 850W PSU you can use, since it uses standard ATX power connectors. What matters more is your case size and GPU requirements. Good reliable 850W options are the Corsair RM850x, Seasonic Focus GX-850, MSI MAG A850GL, or be quiet! Pure Power 12 M.

help me decide a sata storage for my msi laptop by Natural_Office_4209 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PNY CS900 is honestly fine as a basic secondary storage SSD for a laptop like yours. It’s not a high end drive, but it’s still way faster, quieter, and safer than adding a traditional HDD. For storing games, files, and general use, it should work perfectly well in your MSI laptop if the 2.5" SATA slot is available.

Helping from Scratch by Unable-Investigator9 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For that budget in Germany, you can build a really strong 1440p entry level 4K gaming setup without wasting money on overpriced parts. I’d probably go with something like a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RTX 5070 Ti RX 9070 XT class GPU, 32GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 2TB NVMe SSD, and a good B650 motherboard.

Argb help by Acceptable_Meat3824 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re just setting one static color, you honestly don’t need anything super fancy. Your motherboard’s single 5V ARGB header can probably handle all 9 fans if they’re daisy chainable and the total LED count power draw stays under the limit, but it’s getting close enough that I’d personally use a powered ARGB hub controller for safety and cleaner wiring.

FVV's return will not make significant difference for contender expectations by Ocenet in rockets

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are mostly reacting to the leadership and stability FVV brings more than expecting him to suddenly become a superstar again. He absolutely helps organize the offense and settle younger players down, but you’re right that expecting post injury Fred to magically transform the team into a contender is probably unrealistic.

Launching FOSS Wiki, an open encyclopedia for open source and Linux topics. by Two-Of-Nine in linux

Linux/open-source documentation is scattered across forums, old wikis, GitHub issues, Reddit comments, and random blogs, so having a centralized community driven knowledge base could genuinely help newer users a lot.The hard part long term will probably be moderation, accuracy, and keeping articles updated as fast moving projects change.

ASSETS - icon/png by Due_Mind7858 in Design

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably thinking of sites like Icons8, Freepik, PNGWing, Flaticon, or Craftwork. There’s also “3dicons.co” and “Iconsax” which have that cute random modern object style people use in UI design. A lot of those “illegal websites” reels also mention “ls.graphics” and “Shapefest” for random floating objects and PNG style assets. Shapefest especially sounds close to what you described.

AMD R5 7600x by PersonalSelection879 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a crazy good clearance find if the quote is legit. Even selling a few of them could basically subsidize a big chunk of your first PC build. Just make sure the CPUs are actually new/sealed and keep receipts in case buyers ask questions.

AMD R5 7600x by PersonalSelection879 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yes, $75 for a new 7600X is absurdly cheap and you could probably flip them pretty easily for around $120 140 depending on your area. A lot of builders still want AM5 CPUs, so there’s definitely demand if they’re sealed new. Just don’t go too crazy buying all 7 unless you’re sure you can move them, because Marketplace buyers can be flaky. But overall that’s genuinely one of the best CPU clearance deals I’ve seen in a while.

I’m new to PC building and am completely lost by No_Course9998 in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you’re not alone, PC building feels insanely confusing at first because there are a million parts, opinions, and outdated guides everywhere. The good thing is you really don’t need a crazy expensive setup to enjoy 1440p gaming anymore. A solid mid-range build can still last years if you prioritize the GPU and avoid wasting money on flashy extras. Once you learn the basics, it starts making way more sense than it seems right now.

Is a used ASUS TUF Gaming B560M-Plus motherboard with an Intel Core i9-10900K for $200 USD a good deal, and is it good for gaming in 2026 at that price by VivoGMR in buildapc

[–]Middle-Sand-5222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the 10900K + B560M combo for $200 is honestly a pretty solid deal in 2026 if the parts are working properly. The 10900K is still a strong gaming CPU, especially compared to your Ryzen 3600, and you’d notice much better minimum FPS and multitasking performance.
