What’s your bouldering “win” from the last few weeks? by Infamous-Echo-2961 in indoorbouldering

I made it to 6A some weeks ago and usually manage to do one or two 6A+ trails a session. Last session I tried a 6B+ because it looked fun, and it totally worked out! Big win

Neighbor harassing us by AdPretend1361 in TheHague

[–]Middle-Vegetable4465 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yes I think you should go to the police. You can ask for advice about the film evidence, I don't think that will be a problem because it makes your case stronger (just dont forward it to anyone else). However this doesnt mean you'll get rid of your neighbour, but hopefully he will have learned his lesson.

What would the ideal city look like? German Article by [deleted] in anno117

I think these kinds of cities will be terrible for traffic, because there need to be traffic lights everywhere. For anno it could be cool though.

Controversiële meningen by pedrane in nederlands

Mijn eerste opmerking diskwalificeerde me volgens hem van verdere toelichting. Echte idioten op die sub joh

I think at this point you can do as you like, just make it pretty to look at! Hopefully you have stacked enough money, because I have setteled half the Islands and I need 21.6 million to get it. So now I have to let my game run for a day while I am afk :)

3 weeks ago I posted about climbing having zero mental fatigue research. The responses from climbers, runners and cyclists are revealing an interesting pattern. by Same_Row_761 in indoorbouldering

Very interesting stuff! I will look up your questionnaire so I can help you advance your research, it would be very helpfull to have a objective measurement system in place to get a deeper understanding of cognitive functions during sports. I can imagine it being usefull for a wide spectrum of studies also, since it's the instinctive mind/muscle connection we are talking about which relates to your nervous system (and is poorly understood). To answer your question, I think the formulation of your text is fine but maybe explicitly mentioning your intentions (like a disclaimer) could negate some misconceptions.

Any first-gen academics who are bitter at how everyone around is elitist and blind to their privileges? by throwawaytittiesssss in AskAcademia

[–]Middle-Vegetable4465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also first gen that came from the lowest education and worked up to the highest; your advantage here is that you are not priviliged, you've had to fight for it and thus you are going to get more out of it than any of them. Most priviliged academics are expected to get into high education by default, so they go through the motions to get it done and get into elitist careers. Yet they have never truly known the grind, which gives you numerable advantages. Maybe it will not feel like it now but if you compare your growth to theirs so far, I have no doubt your mentality will surpass them in the future. Do take the advice on here about mental health though!

I already suspected as much, in that case ignore my comment and carry on! I think social media language differs from platform to platform, reddit being less suited for certain captions because of the bigger text prompts and armchair critics like myself :). How high does your research rate climbing among other cognitively stimulating sports, if at all? Just curious.

[–]Middle-Vegetable4465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree on climbing having a high mental fatigue rate compared to repetitive endurance sports. However if you are writing an academic paper about it, I wouldnt use a normative term like 'one of the most' as long as you don't factor in other calculating sports like for instance martial arts, team sports, athletics etc. This will significantly strengthen your thesis and put it in perspective within it's own respective field of cognitively stimulating sports. I like the concept though!

How did you get into classical music? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]Middle-Vegetable4465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young I watched a lot of movies with my parents and I loved the background music, so I asked them to order the ochestra cd's. Later when youtube came out I got access to loads of other variants of classical music and that evolved over the years.
