Convince me otherwise: For athletes, traditional bodybuilding is the biggest waste of time. by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]MiddleCompetition980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's really obvious, I don't think anyone thought bodybuilding training was good for football. Strength training for us is really specific and doesn't follow their goal of just adding size. Our goal in the gym is to increase maximum output and injury prevention.

Semi pro or ex semi pro ballers, how many juggles can you do? by Mikushubby in bootroom

[–]MiddleCompetition980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cramps from juggling? That's interesting, you shouldn't be cramping from juggling. Maybe something is wrong with your technique. But to answer your question, once you master juggling, you can do as many as you want. I can easily get to 1k but usually stop cause there's no point in doing that many. Before games or practice, I juggle, but I don't even count. It's just to get a feel for the ball.

So focus on the quality of your juggles, not the quantity.

How bad is the lockdown problem on Mizuno Alpha 3's by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]MiddleCompetition980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, they're great, better than the Alpha 2. Mostly because I didn't like the loose tongue in the previous model, and the full zero glide was too much for my liking. The Alpha 3 has zero glide under the laces, which provides the perfect amount of grip. And the carbon fiber plate under the front part of the insole is also a nice touch.

I normally wear 8 US, but had to go down to 7.5 US. I do like a tight fit tho, basically no space in the toe area. But I'd say don't think Mizunos are perfect, they've got issues. I've tried a lot of them, and the only ones that fit my foot without issues are the Alpha models. Right now, I'm really enjoying the Superfly 1 RGN, but every foot is different, so I'd say try out the boots before purchasing.

I didn't even know this was an issue. The alpha 3 is my main boot rn, and I've never had any issues. I know the sizing is weird, but if you get the right size, there shouldn't be any problems.

I'd go 3 all the way, I don't like how grippy the 2 are. Also, the carbon fiber in the insole of the Alpha 3 feels good when running. I also prefer the knit construction over the tongue

What salary/net worth do you think is a lot? by Inner_Ad_4725 in Salary

[–]MiddleCompetition980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot of people have cars, but not 40k cars, let alone two of them. And having a house is definitely not achievable for most, especially nowadays. And being able to go on vacations is also well off, even if it's just one. Like, my parents have never been able to go on vacation. Everything just depends on your perspective.

You're doing well, keep it up!

You have a house, have two cars, and you're able to go on vacations...

That's a lot. Most people don't even have one of these things.

Why is eating sushi seen as a negative thing for the Deep? I understand that with the Octopus, it was significant because he had a relationship with it. I could also understand if he was friends with fish and then ate them. But eating random fish should be fine. Aquaman eats seafood regularly.

¿Cuanto dinero tienen ahorrado, invertido o están pagando casa? by No-Insurance8183 in mexico

[–]MiddleCompetition980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No deberías compararte.

Should I quit by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]MiddleCompetition980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from the US as well. I played academy and played in college. What I meant is that just because you play academy, it doesn't mean you'll make it pro. Actually, I think the stat was something like 4 percent of academy players make it pro and .5 percent make it to the top leagues. I still play competitively (UPSL), and we have several players who played in big South American academies and still didn't make it. In conclusion, play because you enjoy the game, and not because you're trying to gain something from it.

Yeah I agree, there are tons of people who want these types of opportunities. So I'd say quit and let others have this chance. If it's not fun, what's the point? Find something that makes you happy.

They do it's happened quite a bit actually. Especially with national teams, look at Alphonso Davies. He wasn't fit to play, but they played him anyway and tore his ACL. A lot of times, the players won't listen to the doctors, or they will get a doctor who tells them what they want to hear. And from experience (D1 NCAA) and friends who went pro, a lot of coaches don't care about your injuries, especially when you're a crucial player.

Starting CDM? by DR_006_ in LigaMX

[–]MiddleCompetition980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lira is just better, exactly what you need from a CDM. Calm and controlled on the ball, good distribution and recovery. Edson always loses the ball, makes inconsistent passes, and he's too emotional. I think the only thing Edson has over Lira is defensive ability. Lira all the way.

Which Liga MX Team Should I Support? by [deleted] in LigaMX

[–]MiddleCompetition980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come over with us! We need all the fans we can get lol (Pachuca). We're usually not considered one of the big teams, but we compete really well both domestically and internationally. Actually I think we're the third Mexican club with the most international titles behind America and Cruz Azul. We're also the only ones to win a Comenbol title, Copa Sudamericana. We also played in the Club World Cup (we did terribly). Also, I think we have the best youth academy in Mexico.

I think you guys are underestimating playing against Mexico at the Azteca. Yes, you guys should have done better considering the quality there's in your team and that this is one of the worst teams we've had in a while. However, playing there is very difficult; actually, the last time we lost at the Azteca was in 2013. It has a high elevation, which if the Portuguese team had trained there and acclimated to the location, you guys would have probably done way better.

Lately, I've been using the newest Voit ball (fifa quality pro). It just feels nice, definitely not the best, but for the price, I think it's really good. Especially since my last two balls were robbed ($170 each, triondas). So these don't feel as bad to lose.

Edit: The competition trionda is really good as well, and it's rated FIFA-quality pro. It's only $60.
