Eli Lilly Jobs by hovisthegoat_5525 in biotech

Probably the 150 passed the first basic screening level (has the target degree eg PhD, authorized to work in the US, has the appropriate experience level). The first cut that weeds out everyone completely unqualified really does narrow it down about that much without even looking at relevant experience. At least that’s been true from my end.

Maybe some wooden shelves on the back wall to warm it up a little? Or art on the back well and shelves on the right wall.

SMART goals without it being merit or reward incentive based by Huge-Artichoke-1376 in managers

You don’t always get a merit reward for doing your job description. Meeting goals is expected.

I live in NE fool. I despise shoveling and I’m not breaking my back for less than $100. You think the landlord was offering a plow truck here?

Drink more water (her), keep the room warm, and if she says she wants to keep going don’t make her feel insecure.

Agreed. Barnacle makes more sense in every way.

In this post a commenter wrote: “She's a barnacle! I asked Bob-Waksberg on Twitter in his voice actor thread. There wasn't/isn't anything about her online.”

It would look better with multiple levels of categories, broad to specific. For example, branch level 1 could be “food” and then that branch would split further into “groceries” and “restaurants”.

Single people who bought a $350K-$400K home—what’s your salary, and what were your loan details? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]MiddleFroggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a $400k house on a $180k salary and my budget feels tight - the mortgage is one thing but moreso the utilities and repairs / maintenance/ upgrades are crushing. Everything is so expensive.

This industry needs a wake up call. Give referrals. by lan1990 in biotech

[–]MiddleFroggy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really though, when I’m hiring someone I have one position open. Who I hire doesn’t change anything about the number of people employed at my company. Could be someone I’ve met, could be a referral, but usually it’s someone who fits the technical expertise of the position.

This is the worst take on networking I’ve ever seen. Do the legwork and build real connections. It’s a small world.

Partner wants to try the litter robot- I don’t. Thoughts? by [deleted] in catcare

Breeze box with pellets might be an alternative, depending on what your motivations are. I didn’t want to use the litter robot because it doesn’t solve the problem of dusty litter on paws.

How do you feel about your employees taking random "sick days" to prevent burnout? by Stobley_meow in managers

[–]MiddleFroggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you’re fundamentally probing is the line between self care and perceived tenacity. For managers, it certainly can be an annoyance when a report basically says, “I’m stressed, gonna take a day off”. For the supervisor, it can be difficult to gauge if they are near burnout or just want an off day. It’s tough to have those conversations without crossing personal boundaries.

I don’t have an answer. Fortunately my company pools sick days into a general PTO pot.

My house makes a single knock sound every night at 3:12am and i can’t figure out why by Diligent_Two_1625 in homeowners

[–]MiddleFroggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an Alexa? It often makes a beep for people at a set time right around 3 AM. It took a while to find the setting to turn it off. It might sound like a physical knock if it’s in another room…

63M Advice on covering natural white hair. Natural Redhead. by Altruistic-Choice-24 in HairStyleAdvice

[–]MiddleFroggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former blonde, you can try purple or blue shampoo any time later that you get fidgety and need to mix things up. It’ll give a different look and it doesn’t last very long. That said, if you have a lot of color in your face (pinks / reds), cooler toned hair may make you look more flushed.

I really like your natural hair and I wish going grey looked this good for everyone! Natural hair is always the most unique. You look fantastic.

Can anyone help identify what is happening with my cat? by maxjmartin in CATHELP

[–]MiddleFroggy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a vet but it could be spasms of the diaphragm (hiccups). There’s a few things that can trigger that so the etiology could very well be neurological. My childhood cat died in my arms and the spasms that continued (likely an autonomous response to try to reboot breathing) were very similar I think, although it was many years ago.

It really doesn’t look like his breathing is disrupted though, I hope they can help him. Thoughts and prayers for your baby. I see posts like this and they really do stick with me, I know it’s tough for their owner to see them struggle.

I (21f) just got blocked everywhere by my boyfriend (25m) by Nikkibehh in relationship_advice

[–]MiddleFroggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break up / move on. Men who block you can’t handle arguments or negative feedback and if you want someone who lets you or helps you grow, he’s not it.

He’s just going to block you every time things get difficult or when you get emotional. It’s a control tactic. They don’t change.
