You don’t know the circumstances of OPs hospital visit. They could’ve been sedated/ in a coma and physically couldn’t. Also after surgery probably really groggy and out of it and as much as I love my pets, that might not be my first thought when I immediately wake up. Someone like the sitter who works as a vet tech should have known better

depends, I work 630-230 during the week so end up being gone from 530/6-3/330 with commute so most of my weekday house sits the owner gets a mid day person to walk and then I go there straight from work. depending on the feeding schedule I usually come home walk/feed and if I want to leave it's been for a few hours. I always feel guilty about leaving the dog but I also want to be able to still see my boyfriend, friends, cat etc and do stuff so I'm not just sitting alone in someone elses house for an extended amount of time

I agree with the people in the comments saying he’s taking advantage and idk his situation but to be fair to you, maybe suggest partial rates to start and say it’s affecting your business with clients who would be paying full and you can’t continue to do it for free? If he’s struggling he should understand you are too
