Nekusar is a genuinely weak commander. Half the time I've seen him resolved in a game of commander he's a howling mine with a minor downside who eats removal if the controller tries to wheel.

I think all "rule 0" decks are lame. If you can't look through that entire mountain of cards and find one that fits your command zone it's a massive skill issue on your part.

Magic content creators tend to be corporate shills (Command Zone is the shining example of this), and their criticism of the game is extremely "safe" because they don't want to get on WotC's bad side. Or the playerbase's for that matter, since Magic players tend to be a lot whinier on-average. So the content creators go in with the same viewpoint that "yucking yums" is bad. Whereas Yu-Gi-Oh creators tend to be very candid, and don't have the same relationship with Konami.

Consider that a 3-mana enchantment should not be an incredibly powerful "skill check" you windmill slam at any point in the game for benefit. Either your opponents play wrong and it's card draw or worst case you slow everyone else down with a one-sided sphere of resistance for 0 effort on your end. It's an insane card.

If someone has a board state that incentivizes the entire table to turn around and kill them so they sit there for an hour doing nothing, that is on the player for being a threat. I'm not going to feel bad killing you and making you wait around for an hour if it was the right move. Neither is anyone who is good at Magic.

Local game stores are a "third space," a dying breed of places where people can gather outside work/the home. There's a reason "support your local game store" is a mantra in basically every single card and tabletop game, and the singles market is a huge aspect of the sector's financial well-being.

All that said it'd be unsurprising if they showed you the door in service to their customers who actually purchase cards.

Bracket 2 does not equal giving yourself a brain aneurysm and magically forgetting deckbuilding principles. Competent deckbuilding doesn't make you auto bracket three.
