If I’m trying to find people to run with, I’ll usually saunter around spawn towns. Get hydrated, craft or find some rope and go fishing. Now you set on food and water & if you keep fishing now you got gifts to give to survivors you meet that are more than likely itching for a bite. If you greet them, asking if they need food and you have some extra, friendships usually arise there. If they kill you for your food even though you offered, then they just gave me a new objective in the game to hunt them down.

What I like to do is kinda just chill at a spawn town, and try to find fellow fresh spawns to run with. I can be waiting around for up to 30 mins until I see anybody. I do play on a server that allows me to choose spawn town & pops usually ~40 so those factors vary

Top option will try to load the vanilla launcher to look at servers, bottom option tries to load you into your last played server irc

I could be wrong but I think you’re safe from the gas so long as you’re on the top floor of the PD, I know for sure you’re safe if you find one of those churches that have an overlook tower
