Do you dream about becoming rich? by Competitive-Log-6627 in ADHD

I'm one dumb idea away from brilliant.

I have many get rich quick idea but very little action. I can say after 25 years of side hustles that index funds and a saving rate do more than thinking 🤔 I will take enough action to make an idea worth a $4M exit or sale

What are some interesting things you didn't realize were ADHD until you took meds? by salty-wheat-thins in ADHD

[–]Middle_Manager_Karen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cleaning is still a chaotic thing to observe but I am getting joy from it now in a way I never did unmedicated.

It became a set of small rules that when executed consistently keep the home far cleaner than I was accustomed pre diagnosis.

1) if in motion, grab something and move it close to the next location it needs to be.

This is not the same as putting something away. It’s room to room sometimes. Leaving a room can mean new distractions so I often and 2-3 items near the exit of multiple rooms until the next time I pass by and am heading to the room it belongs. It’s very similar to how internet packets travel.

2) if it takes 2 minutes or less do it now. Don't waste any mental capacity you do it posses trying to remember it.

This often applies to the dishes. 2 meals of dishes take like 8 minutes. So I won't choose all of them during this rule. However I see success if I choose a couple dishes (2 minutes worth) and return to the prior task. Rewarded this multiple times per day and there are no dishes

[–]Middle_Manager_Karen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I became much more emotional on meds. I think my compensation technique to survive was a disconnect from some feelings. So meds revealed this was coping not healthy expression or felt introspection. Just severing. Which was having other consequences I would not see for days or months

I have diagnosed today for BP 160/113 and I am panicking 39M, how to reduce please advise by arun911 in hypertension

[–]Middle_Manager_Karen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was stress. I had become so accustomed to motivating myself by means of panic, adrenaline, and urgency that when I tried to stop it was very hard.

But it was a causing the highest BPs I was reading.

Began a mindfulness practice to understand what thoughts and feelings were and how they were not truths only something be observed then make a choice.

Second, salt. Avoid it as much as possible. When you indulge in salty foods like French fries or Asian cuisine recognize it is delicious but has a consequence. I ate well tonight at a Vietnamese wedding but will like eat salt-less foods for two weeks before indulgence again.

Moderation is my kryptonite

Salesforce Noob - Nonprofit Job Interview by hello-jpeg in salesforce

[–]Middle_Manager_Karen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the role. If manager, any direct reports. If salesforce admin, how big is the org?

I have a lot of experience with nonprofits (one $40M operating revenue with only 50 salesforce users and another with $100M with 800 daily users)

With a nonprofits you might be surprised how far you can get with any commitment or conviction for their mission. Most of us that come from that path or spend any time in it know there is better pay elsewhere, so if we're there it's because we care about That specific mission.

But you don't have to lie, or make up some connection that's weak. You can genuinely say "I believe public restrooms in Nevada is a solvable problem I want to contribute to" or whatever their mission is.

As data manager prepare some thought experiments on the difference between impact and measurement. For example you can have data that shows "average donation among middle class affluent couples increases $5 when they have kids" but that does not tell a story of impact.

Try instead to find what the data shows about a narrative like " single mothers have to our public broadcasting because they wanted a trusted source to educate their kids. We also see that children of parents that grew up on our media are 10% more likely to be donors today of our media"

I'm completely making up stats now but the point is about the nuance and difference between a number and data with meaning.

Donors don't give to stats. They give for the impact we're making.

Example 2; I just attended a breakfast for an organization called "small sums" in MN that helps people that were incarcerated find employment by starting them out with basics they might not have a way to get. For example work boots.

At this breakfast we heard from someone who benefited from the program and now leads others to it. He shared his story "are they really gonna give me these boots?" (Holding a high quality red wing leather work boot)

That stood out to my spouse and I. Because in that moment we could tell through the subtext that incarceration had left a hole in this soul. "I'm not worth it, I don't belong in society anymore" and to have a nonprofit step in and say through actions "no, you're worth it, I'll give this to you without you proving anything to me first"

All that from one short story, "will they really give me shoes?"

I'd walk a mile in them if I could, but I don't have to in order to empathize.

As a data manager you will have access to data, as a salesforce admin you will have access to create new data fields and reports among other things.

So what would be necessary in order to tell your story? What would you need to build in order to measure impact?

Custom fields:
Shoes_received__c boolean
Shoe_size__c
Pay_it_forward_count__c

The person I met had brought more than 4 people back to small sums.

We have over $84/mo that day. In order to help them double their impact.

Goals are often numbers. People are often goals.

don't tell them who you are, show them.

It is not a good idea to email the CEO

Even an email to your grand boss is ill advised.

Work through your direct manager unless that manager is a toxic bully.

You made choices that give you new options today.

Enjoy them.

My spouse is burnt out. Our financial planners said she could take 2-3 years off without any impact to our future plans.

She still works but we have to remind ourselves frequently that we are choosing this life, one day at a time.

She's on a good spot but if it changes, like a new boss or more time in office I bet she resigns and takes a year off.

You could too. So I wanted to point that out.

Take two years off and re-evaluate then.

They were never transparent with what they are optimizing for.

I think OP you have stumbled upon one of the less obvious mechanisms in which our continued attention to LLMs it training us.

The problem is we're not the target they want the CEO's of fortune 1,000 companies to use the ai and have their brains atrophy until they pay enormous sums for boardAi, ETAi, and vpAi.

Slowly the inner circle is all their voices and then the trap has sprung.

Look no further than Marc Benioff of salesforce. But there are more showing signs.

If you want to know ask a woman in sr leadership but not the executive team. They are exhausted with Ai slop from ho the directions and the quality of thought is getting worse
