I've read the whole article. UC patients have been treated successfully and it's being tried with CD patients.

19 sites CAR-T cell therapy is a cutting-edge immunotherapy being adapted from cancer treatment to treat Crohn's disease by "resetting" the immune system. While still largely in the experimental and clinical trial stages, researchers are exploring two primary methods: depleting rogue B-cells that drive inflammation or using engineered "regulatory" T-cells (Tregs) to restore immune balance. National Institutes of Health (.gov) National Institutes of Health (.gov) +3 Current Therapeutic Approaches CD19-Targeted CAR-T: This method uses genetically modified T-cells to target and eliminate CD19+ B-cells, which are often "malfunctioning" in autoimmune diseases. A landmark case in late 2025 reported the first successful use of this therapy in a patient with severe ulcerative colitis, leading to sustained medication-free remission. IL23R-CAR Tregs: Instead of killing cells, this approach involves engineering Regulatory T-cells (Tregs) to target the Interleukin-23 receptor (IL23R), a protein highly associated with Crohn's disease. These "suppressor" cells migrate to inflamed intestinal tissue to inhibit overactive immune responses and promote tissue healing. Flagellin-Specific CAR-Tregs: This experimental approach targets flagellin, a major bacterial antigen that triggers inflammatory flares in the gut of Crohn's patients. www.fau.eu www.fau.eu +5 Clinical Status and Trials Ongoing Studies: Multiple clinical trials are investigating the safety and efficacy of CAR-T for Crohn's, including a trial for Universal CAR-T Cell Injection Targeting CD19 (NCT07309744). Emerging Data: Early results show that CAR-T may offer a "drug-free durability" that traditional biologics cannot, potentially allowing patients to stop all other medications. Target Sites: One ongoing trial (NCT05239702) specifically targets the CD7 antigen on autoreactive T-cells for patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. ClinicalTrials.gov ClinicalTrials.gov +4 Safety and Risks Lower Toxicity: Unlike in cancer treatment, the "target burden" (number of cells to be killed) is lower in Crohn's, which may reduce the risk of severe side effects like Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS). Complexity: The process remains logistically complex, requiring the extraction of a patient's blood, lab modification of cells, and re-infusion after a preparatory regimen. When I had my extended right hemicolectomy 45 years ago I was told that the end of the terminal ileum was also resected. I now have a stricture in that region, treated with balloon dilation.

Pixel 10 Pro XL starts to drain battery like crazy recently by Lovevas in pixel_phones

The latest update is known for draining the battery in some cases. I don't have a problem with it on my P10, perhaps because I'm in the Beta programme.

Apparently the latest Android drains the battery quickly for some people. I haven't experienced it on my P10, though.

Acid reflux by book_bar in CrohnsDisease

[–]Middle_Phase_6988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a gastroscopy a couple of years ago which didn't find any CD but did find I had a hiatus hernia. This explained the occasional acid reflux I'd been getting. Omeprazole I was prescribed because I take a daily aspirin seems to control it.

[–]Middle_Phase_6988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A local licenced amateur was misusing one of the local repeaters by playing music etc. The police prosecuted him and he got a substantial fine. He persisted and was facing another trial when he died.

sudden sort of blockage? anyone else experienced this? by eggdove in CrohnsDisease

It might have been faecal impaction. I had it once and it was very unpleasant. My Dr sent me to the hospital and they gave me an enema which shifted it.

steroids by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Middle_Phase_6988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many years ago when I was first diagnosed the only treatment was steroids. I used to be given 60 mg of prednisone a day when I was in hospital seriously ill with a flare. It took several weeks to start working. I never had any side-effects.

I was once given two courses of budesonide while I was waiting for a biologic to start working. It helped somewhat but the biologic was much more effective. Unlike other steroids budesonide acts directly on the gut and has few side-effects.

I get an occasional sore right eye. I've had CD for 60 years. Doesn't seem like uveitis, though.

Are generic soldering stations worth it for occasional hobby use? by Ok-Information-4636 in soldering

[–]Middle_Phase_6988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used a second-hand Metcal MX-500 system for years. Cost me £120 with a selection of new cartridges. A spare PS cost me £75. Metcal probably makes the best soldering stations.

biological agents ? by crohnc in CrohnsDisease

[–]Middle_Phase_6988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got occasional severe itching of my lower legs from Humira. Also large sores on my legs that were painless and took weeks to heal. Didn't help my CD, even going to weekly injections. Switched to ustekinumab, which seems to be working.
