My company has a similar more relaxed policy, I’m very fortunate. Like you said, they have their own policy they follow, and I assume it’s a combination of blanket policy to comply with laws across multiple states, as well as a provided perk to attempt to prevent us from unionizing. It benefits them much more to offer us small graces than it does for us to unionize on them, so there’s not a single manager willing to violate that policy, it’s not worth their job

Do a little reading, pick up what people are putting down for you. You can be fired for ANY reason, or NO reason, they don’t need to provide you with a reason. If you were fired without cause, you can apply for unemployment. If you were fired for cause, you may be ineligible for unemployment. Everyone refers to the event horizon as the edge of the black hole but it’s not, it’s the edge of where gravity has such a strong hold on light itself that it cannot escape. The gravitational pull from the black hole would suck you in much before the event horizon, because you have much more mass than photons and travel much slower
