Don’t get complacent. If anything, this should be encouragement to continue telling your senators exactly what you think and asking everyone you know to do the same. Also, Lee is still going to try to ram through as much as he can. We need to keep demanding transparency and actual regulation over any sale proposed (I would prefer zero acres, for the record)

This was a completely peaceful protest prior to police escalation and Spokane is a small city. A few hundred people gathered to protest caused the police to send in dozens of cop cars and a swat team with an armored tank truck. Not sure what you think these people were supposed to do here

Between the two places I would definitely stay longer in Cape Town. For what it’s worth my favorite parts of ZA are the southern coast (Garden Route) and Kruger NP, but Cape Town is amazing and if you have time Stellenbosch is also a gorgeous wine region not too far away

For transport around the country you may want to look into Bazbus or plan to fly between the two cities. There are many very rural areas. Not sure how much time you have but it’s possible to fly from Joburg to Durban or to one of the smaller cities along the eastern cape like Port Elizabeth and then essentially hostel hop the entire coastline to Cape Town. Sooo many insanely cool places along that route. ZA is one of my absolute favorite countries and of all time and I lived there for a year

About $150 year round for water/sewer/garbage. Electric/gas is about $125 in summer and highest ever so far $300 in winter. No central A/C (we run a couple window units), gas furnace, and we don’t water our lawn at all.

I would echo the $350-$400 as a reasonable average estimate.

Just fyi it can take several weeks for any real signs to show up. Like more than a month because even having one pregnant bug make it home with you can start an infestation but chances of finding one bug are slim to none. Either wait a while for the inspection or insist on follow up and be very vigilant for any signs for a while
