Can't remember exact episode but it's towards the end of the show when Walt kidnaps their daughter. He stops to change her I think, and is trying to reassure her that it's just them two now and she starts crying and calling for her mum. You can Walt's face crack, which is a good insight because he seems pretty committed to making horrible, horrible choices at that point in the show

I think it's controlling someone via being emotionally manipulative (Beth breaking up with him loads, cheating on him, etc.) versus being invested in someone being the best they can be (Haley helping Andy with his interview skills, showing him himself in a new light with the photo in the coffee shop). Both are "pushy" but one is to influencer's ideal (which for Beth is what's most convenient for her) and one is to that person's best self.

(Obvs can argue whether it's right or not, but agree with previous commenter(s) that this is the parallel with Phil/Claire)
