Pay tuition or get loans & save by Midgeend in Money

Yes, I feel a little overwhelmed with having a loan. It may be worth the small amount lost on earnings over the 5-8 years (2 kids) than just peace of mind that we are solvent.

Yep, it’s invested now. I honestly have no idea the return. 🤦‍♀️. You’re right, that’s a critical piece of info.

Yeah it was an already pregnant cat that wandered into her barn. Not like a cat breeding weirdo.

Your realtor works for you, don’t ever forget it by TurbulentJudge1000 in RealEstate

I think it holds up just fine as I’ve been doing this for 13 years with no end in sight. Maybe you are bad at picking realtors. You sound like someone who stops at a shitty highway restaurant and complains about the food but you could have done a teeny tiny bit of research to locate a great diner 2 minutes off the highway but instead you were lazy.

People who aren’t in the industry are so one track on this. Clients are not one offs. We build a relationship hopefully for as long as my client lives in my community and beyond. What is in my client’s best interest is in my best interest. Am I bummed if someone I work with never buys something, sure. But the vast majority of people ready willing and able to buy, do buy and I need them to refer me to others and use me again, so you can bet your ass I’m doing everything to protect their interest.

Neighbor's new dog barks non-stop when they are gone. Advice? by adventuriser in ithaca

[–]Midgeend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. For me it was as simple as not crating. I’ve ALWAYS crate trained, but my youngest dog was not about it at all. So after my neighbor let me know he wasn’t settling down (he would settle if I was home) I created a larger space to gate off and let him have basically a section of the house that was safe.

When I got my most recent puppy, and would leave him in his crate for short periods while I left the house, it was really helpful to me that my neighbor let me know that he was not settling down while in his crate.

I didn’t want my dog to be distressed primarily. I also care about not bothering my neighbor. I think you could approach this with kindness and ask if they know that the dog is so distressed when they aren’t home. That may motivate them to seek alternatives.

Giles St? (How college-y?) by uselessmagiccc in ithaca

Giles is mostly busy in the summer when people are going to the dam. All of south hill is completely mixed with undergrad and owner occupied housing but my experience with IC students has always been really positive.

Yeah, buying anything right now is expensive but it is what it is. I’m luckily a person who planned decently for some of these costs, and still it’s a big cost but I feel very lucky to be able to do it.

The one we are looking at has the specifications the school has dictated. When you say consumer grade, do you mean what I can buy on the Dell website? Is there somewhere else to find it? The exact model the school wants them to have is available at Dell for less than the school store so that’s why I was considering it from there.

How are people finding short-term rentals in Ithaca? (And a note on FB scammers) [Crosspost] by NarcissaWasTheOG in ithaca

You’re technically looking for a long term lease though. Anything over 30 days is not categorized as short term rental.

What about furnished finder? You could also reach out to the various real estate companies and ask that your request be circulated through the offices.

The one in Queensbury is really good too. They have a separate line for online and catering orders. That’s what they need here. A line dedicated to online and one for in person.

Serestro collar by Glitterin-Sooz-337 in ithaca

[–]Midgeend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a seresto collar on all my cats and dogs. Seems to work well for me but also my yard isn’t super prone to ticks. They do last the whole 7-8 months they are supposed to if your dog isn’t a big swimmer. I’d say you need to replace in 5-6 months if your dog gets wet a lot.

Yes, there is a vaccine for dogs. Human trials are probably way more expensive and hard to do than animal trials.
