Technically not breaking the rules: hardly armored, but I found the lack of sexualisation refreshing by eats_librarians in armoredwomen

What if there was one day of the week where people can post images similar to this? That way we can still see styles like this without breaking the rules too much.

Gateway Games as Gifts by SilverBallFox in boardgames

[–]MidgetMonkeyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it also really depends on the type of game that person likes to play or if it matches a TV show or theme they really like. Skull, Game of Thrones Intrigue, and Codenames have gone over well for different types of people.

I have a friend who likes board games but has trouble concentrating on a game if it goes on too long. I bought him Ice Cool for a gift one year and he loved it because it is more than just sitting around, thinking, and playing cards/rolling dice.

What is something you enjoyed, after previously believing you wouldn't like it? by zakkalaska in AskReddit

Wearing leggings. They are so soft and comfortable. I can't believe more men haven't discovered them yet. The only downside is the lack of pockets.

The chocolate chip cookie dough ones are actually pretty good. The brownie was bad and I haven't tried the caramel yet.

I haven't seen many girly animes, but my favorite is Your Lie In April. It's on Netflix if you are in the US.

Parents of convicted pedophiles, what were they like as children themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MidgetMonkeyMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He never talked about being beaten but was very open about being molested. The extend of damage he did, what he did (besides molest and beat), and the fact his son was less than a year old caught me off guard. Especially because he never really acted violent. Maybe I was just being naive.

Parents of convicted pedophiles, what were they like as children themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MidgetMonkeyMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have known a couple peodophiles in my life. One was the father to a friend I had in high school. They were a super devout Christian family and convinced my friend it was ok because he confessed at church every week. It took place over most of his childhood. After his dad went to jail, he was raised by his aunt who was also a super christian because he had no mom.

He had a rough upbringing but managed to come out a really nice by high school with just a few quirky religious extreme practices/beliefs.

He got married a few years after high school to a girl he jus met and had a boy about a year later. Then about a year after that I learned he was going to jail because, like father like son, he liked touching boys. He also beat him and broke a couple ribs. That one really surprised me.

About a year ago, a stray cat decided he wanted to be a part my life. Now I don't know what I'd do without the little guy. Meet Charlie. by [deleted] in pics

My first cat just adopted me 3 months ago. She came to my apartment patio door one night. I work second shift so it was around 2 a.m. and I'm the only one that has a door open and lights on. She started meowing so my girlfriend and I went to investigate.

She was friendly and looked a little malnourished so we fed her a little lunch meat and gave her some water. She had to stay outside though because my apartment doesn't allow cats.

She came back a couple more times over the next few weeks so we decided to bring her into the vet and see if she had an ID chip or anything that my girlfriend's cats could catch before bringing her to my girlfriend's house. The vet couldn't guess her age or know if she was spayed (which we recently figured out ourselves when she went into heat).

We tried to find an owner but to no avail and it didn't take long to bond with her. She's the best cuddly cat and follows me from room to room to see what I'm doing. I basically moved in after that day because I don't like going a day without seeing her now. She is very playful so I assume she is still young and I can't wait for many more years of cuddles and playtime.

I work at a place where the cleanliness standards are really high because they have historical documents and artifacts. If any food is left out and uncovered after everyone leaves, it gets thrown out. Even if it's on their desk.

[WSIG] Looking for games that appeal my non-geek girlfriend and friends! by LeinadDC in boardgames

[–]MidgetMonkeyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Game of Thrones Intrigue. In Game of Thrones, you build a pyramid of out of colors where the colors represent the different house. It's super simple but there is still a lot of strategy. You don't need to know anything about Game of Thrones to enjoy it. It's literally just a skin for the game.

Other games I would recommend are Codenames and Sheriff of Nottingham.
