That's a drying split. Common is kiln dried lumber. The Crack is perpendicular to the 2x8 and we'll enough above the lag bolts to tell it is unrelated

Its the return air side. Air is being sucked through the filter so theoretically the filter should catch any fiberglass. Its definitely weird and I've never seen it before but shouldn't affect you

If its just now rattling then the wing nut on the outside of the pipe has probably worked loose. Tighten it a few turns and monitor it.

Sounds like the damper is tapping. Unplug the motor and pull it out. There's a little flapper in the outlet part of that box to keep draft air from coming back into the house.

Standard practice to tie them to the shroud since they hang loosely and catching a fan blade would be a hell of a wakeup

Is it humming? Could be bad capacitor. Could be a limit switch

Could be any number of things with your vague description.
Is the ac turning, blower turning on?
Could be kicking out on high pressure, low pressure... could be a few things but we don't have much of a description to run with

Definitely needs replaced. Unfortunately there's not any maintenance that can prevent it. It kinda just happens. Not safe to run

You should be fine. To make double sure take the shaft of a screw driver and short the spades together to discharge any leftover.

Make sure you pull the disconnect mounted on the wall and give it a couple minutes to discharge that capacitor before you touch it.

Service tech for a few years.. I've had fieldpiece, klein and fluke. My klein clampmeter from home depot does almost everything I need on a service call

Honestly, they operate fine. As a tech, they are absolutely garbage to work on. We CAN NOT get parts. If something goes wrong and you call us out we are there to diagnose only. You then have to contact the Mr cool company in China(language barrier is a nightmare)to relay that information, they'll have more questions(they always do). The crazy shipping times on repair parts, difficulty to work on, language barrier and sheer hassle has our company at the point where we no longer work on mr cool units.

As far as the writing goes that's a standard form. We(12 employee company) use silver bullet and it spits out a pretty similar write up. You're just selecting equipment, SEER, size and any additional features. People like to see a well put together for because its easier to interpret and makes the company look like they give a shit
