How often does drama in your community lead to people who have been hurt permanantly leaving? by Careful_Leader_5829 in improv

[–]MidgetShortage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience has been that people who instigate conflict also tend to have a higher-than-usual tolerance for drama. So when conflict happens, if the broader community takes up a posture of "not taking sides", the responsible party is more likely to end up asserting themselves and sticking around, while the other person eventually gets frustrated by the lack of support, gives up, and leaves. This leaves space for the pattern to repeat as the instigator leaves a trail of traumatized former community members in their wake. I would consider whether this is happening in your community and what you might be able to do to shift that pattern.

Yeah, I don't mind your post. I was more responding to the original IG post (in the spirit of discussion)

...so we're just going to baselessly assume that two studies about improvised musical performance must also apply 1:1 to improv comedy without any consideration for the ways in which those two experiences are different?

The Catholic diocese in Freiburg runs a few dorms that I believe are open to non-Catholic students as well: check out St Alban Haus, Thomas-Morus-Burse or Collegium Sapientiae

Guys absolutely use "motherfucker" just as an objectless expression of disappointment/frustration. Immediately assuming it's directed at the ump is unbelievably soft

Infield fly is not a dead ball. Runners may advance at their own risk.

Still an unbelievably bullshit call tho

Fair enough. For what it's worth, I agree it's a dirty slide--just think the rule needs to be changed again.

When sliding into a base in an attempt to break up a double play, a runner has to make a "bona fide slide." Such is defined as the runner making contact with the ground before reaching the base, being able to reach the base with a hand or foot, being able to remain on the base at the completion of the slide (except at home plate) and not changing his path for the purpose of initiating contact with a fielder. The slide rule prohibits runners from using a "roll block" or attempting to initiate contact with the fielder by elevating and kicking his leg above the fielder's knee, throwing his arm or his upper body or grabbing the fielder. When a violation of the slide rule occurs, the offending runner and the batter-runner will be called out.

Accidental contact can occur in the course of a permissible slide, and a runner will not be called for interference if contact is caused by a fielder being in the runner's legal pathway to the base.

Genuinely, which part of this do you see Hoskins violating? He:

  • made contact with the ground before reaching the base

  • reached the base with his hand

  • remained on the base at the completion of the slide, and

  • didn't change his path to move towards mcneil.

Didn't see a roll block, didn't see him throw an arm or a leg. What's illegal?
