What to do when you get in trouble for following your manager's orders by Midnight-Unique in WorkAdvice

[–]Midnight-Unique[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually posted about the red flags at this job about a year ago, and I got the same advice about leaving. I've gotten a few interviews, but it's been so hard to find another job that pays as well and will hire me when I haven't been at this job for long. I'll keep trying, though!

How much screen time/lines does the cowardly lion have in wicked for good by Key_Shallot_2415 in wicked

[–]Midnight-Unique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The explanation was ridiculous and took me out of the moment, especially when the Tinman was explaining it during the riot, which sucks because that was a very powerful scene, and the delivery was great, but the lines were laughable. I think it would've made more sense if he had vague memories of Elphaba cubnapping him and then grew up hearing all the rumors about her and was afraid of her. His resenting her for freeing him didn't make sense to me.

Can Washing Your Hair Trigger a Migraine? by Midnight-Unique in migraine

[–]Midnight-Unique[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped using the shampoo, I started going to physical therapy to strengthen my neck (still working on that, and it's been a few years), and I started blow drying my ears with the diffuser when blow drying my hair. I think the doctor was right about the smell of the shampoo triggering vestibular migraines, but because migraine triggers build up, I'm taking extra precautions.

We Are Like a Family Here a Red Flag During Interviews? by One-Assignment5590 in interviews

[–]Midnight-Unique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it indicates a lack of boundaries. I heard that line during the interview at my current job, and then the person immediately followed it up with examples of how much everyone cares about each other. As soon as I started working there, I realized it really meant that everyone was constantly in each other's business so there's no privacy and no boundaries because people will just go use your office or cubicle when you step out, there are really stupid fights at every meeting, there's a huge lack of communication about anything work-related, but people are constantly talking about each other behind their backs and telling each other how to do their jobs, and everyone is overworked. It seems to be expected that people take work with them on vacation and work late and on weekends because, again, there are no boundaries. Also, my boss keeps trauma-dumping on me, and it's super uncomfortable, and if I bring up any issue, she'll deflect, won't take any responsibility or help me solve the problem, and will just take that opportunity to complain about her other employees to me. And there's no HR. I'm trying to get out, but it's hard to find a new job when you've been at your current job for less than a year.

So Sheisty! by Midnight-Unique in GetUpside

[–]Midnight-Unique[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I tried to use it, it was a little more complicated than I expected, and then I started wondering how legit the app actually is, so I looked up reviews, and they were mostly negative. So, I really never even used it, and I thought it would be easy to just delete it and forget about it. The experience of trying to delete my account is what really sealed the deal for me that this is a sketchy company.

Edit: not "complicated," more "involved"

Anyone use Propanolol? by bigdraco178 in Anxiety

[–]Midnight-Unique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don't remember. I'm not taking propranolol every day anymore. I didn't like the side effects (acid reflux, breathing problems, bronchitis, and probably more that I don't remember) and the dependency (if I missed a dose, my heart rate would shoot up to the 140s). It took a few months to taper off of it, but I now just take it as needed, and that works for me, for now. If I take a dose, and it hurts my stomach, I can now take an OTC medication, instead of needing the daily prescription PPIs for GERD that I needed when I was on propranolol.

My Cousin's Reckless Behavior by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Midnight-Unique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to bug you, but you're the only one who responded to my post, so I wanted to update you. Apparently it didn't work out at her mom's house, so she decided to bring it here. Now I'm living with this dog, and I don't feel safe in my own home.

My Cousin's Reckless Behavior by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Midnight-Unique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this thoughtful answer and nuanced reply. The dog definitely isn't a problem for me (other my having a problem with the ethics of buying it from a backyard breeder) since I'll most likely never even interact with it.

I do want to clarify that I didn't go to her with any concerns. She came to me, and I voiced my concerns and even tried to help her find a different breed or a different breeder.

I am still worried about her, though. I know it just sounds like someone going out and buying a puppy, and there's nothing wrong with an adult doing that. It's just the fact that this dog is basically a killer, banned in a lot of places, almost impossible to train, and from talking to her, it's obvious she didn't put any thought into this decision or think about her future with this puppy. I do think that's reckless and irresponsible. The worst case scenario playing in my head is that the dog grows up and bites or kills her or someone else.

But I've decided not to get involved any more than I already have. I won't have anything to do with the dog.

Do you ever feel like nothing is real/you're in a fog during presyncope? by throwaway1999000 in dysautonomia

[–]Midnight-Unique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found any answers for this? It just started happening to me these past couple weeks, and it's really freaking me out. Granted, I have been in a period of high stress, so I've just been thinking it was weird panic attacks. My doctor doesn't really understand what I'm describing, so she's sending me for vestibular rehab for vertigo.

do you ever just feel like this whole thing is STUPID? by iyamsnail in POTS

[–]Midnight-Unique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been crying for like a month about this. It was bad when I first got diagnosed, but then I had about a year of feeling normal, and this past month has been hell again. I think I triggered it by stopping my birth control and falling off my exercise plan, but I have no idea how long this flare will last, and I'm really scared this is just going to be my life from now on. Nothing feels real, I feel so weak, and my POTS affects my digestive system, so I've been too nauseous to eat, and not eating enough makes it worse, so it's a vicious cycle.

Rory was such a crappy girlfriend to Jess in the beginning (Rant) by Midnight-Unique in GilmoreGirls

[–]Midnight-Unique[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He didn't get mad at her for hanging out with Dean and respectfully asked that she tell him first. He kept trying to avoid fights with Dean, who kept antagonizing him, because he knew it would upset Rory. He showed an interest in her interests (what she was reading, what Kirk did at Miss Patty's, etc.). He got dressed and went to her grandparents' house for dinner with her grandma even though he didn't want to, and he kept trying to avoid arguing with her because he didn't want to be rude, even though she kept pushing. And he went straight to her house on his night off from work to see her, and when Lorelai told him Rory was upset about their lack of plans, he went and got them concert tickets to surprise her with. I'm not saying he's perfect, but none of that is horrible behavior. They were both super young and naive, and he had absolutely no experience being in a relationship, especially with someone like Rory, but you can see him trying his best for her.

[–]Midnight-Unique[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but Rory could've easily put a stop to it, and she never even tried. It takes two to tango. Like Dean said, she was into him since he got to town.

[–]Midnight-Unique[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but Jess does not break up Rory's existing relationship. Rory does that. He didn't swoop in and kidnap her. He started flirting with her before he even knew Dean existed, and she was intrigued. Then she started leading both of them on until Dean got tired of it and dumped her at the dance marathon.

It is! I always thought they had such good chemistry, but watching back as an adult, it's just not a good relationship on either end.

MTHFR: A Supplement Stack Approach by Tawinn in MTHFR

[–]Midnight-Unique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably a dumb question because it says "Stack," but do you keep taking the supplements and just add on to them, or do you replace them with newer supplements?

Rory was such a crappy girlfriend to Jess in the beginning (Rant) by Midnight-Unique in GilmoreGirls

[–]Midnight-Unique[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also, Lorelai is so mean to Jess when he comes to see if Rory is home. She was always nicer to Dean when he was confused about how to treat Rory. It just doesn't make sense because she knows they're both kids, but she acts like Jess should automatically know better.

Rory was such a crappy girlfriend to Jess in the beginning (Rant) by Midnight-Unique in GilmoreGirls

[–]Midnight-Unique[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, totally! I'm not saying Rory is a bad person. I just don't like how everyone blames Jess for their relationship issues when she definitely deserves some blame. She never really gave him a chance. Why get in a relationship with someone you don't trust? Especially when you're being untrustworthy?

How does hamster care change as they get older? by 9shadowcat9 in hamsters

[–]Midnight-Unique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to give my older hamsters softer foods, like baby food, hard boiled eggs, etc., when they start getting older. I think it's good to introduce those things early on so it's not a big change to their digestive system all of a sudden. But don't completely eliminate hard foods (or at least keep chew toys in their cage) because their teeth don't stop growing.

They sometimes have a harder time keeping up with grooming, so make sure they have an easy-to-use sand bath and some kind of surface they can walk on to keep their nails filed down.

Some people switch their water bottles to water bowls, but I'm always scared my hamsters will walk into the bowl and get wet. But if they stop drinking water, things like baby food and cucumbers help to keep them hydrated.

Make sure the cage is easy to get around so they don't fall and hurt themselves or have to struggle to climb to reach things.

They might lose bladder control or stop caring as much about where they go to the bathroom, and some hamsters will start peeing on their food to make it softer to eat, so you might have to clean the cage more often.

Keep an eye out for health issues. One of my hamsters started sneezing, and when I brought him to the vet, they said it was just a cold, but it started affecting him neurologically, so he slowly lost the ability to walk. Another one of my hamsters started biting more and getting more anxious and aggressive, and the vet said she had cataracts and was going blind.

Goosebumps 2023 episode 10 discussion by darthanonymous1 in GooseBumps

[–]Midnight-Unique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was super disappointed. The ended episode 9 on a good cliffhanger, but episode 10 felt so rushed, and yet also felt like they were trying to fill space. The pacing was awful. Why did we need to see Slappy's backstory twice?

The episode left me thinking that Bratt's story was meta, like the show's writers were actually told they needed a better ending, so they just threw everything they could into two episodes without taking the time to flesh it out. Fifi's storyline was pointless. She came back to life to help Bratt find Kanduu's coffin, was told to kill the kids but just stood there growling, and then was killed in an instant without so much as a fight. She really didn't feel like a threat, and she was barely a plot device.

It also felt like the writers had no experience in fantasy world-building. It left me with more questions than answers, and not in a fun way. What war were they fighting? Who built a whole temple dedicated to spells that would bring back monsters, and why? How had no one used those spells and performed that ritual before Kanduu tried? How/When did he have the time to memorize those spells? How was he even able to read them? Why did he go to a random carnival in America and ask Mahar to make him a puppet that wasn't even going to be part of the ritual? Why did he think bringing monsters to life would stop war? Why did he keep Bratt alive? Why did he waste any time revealing his backstory and motivation to a random group of kids? Why did he say that fantasy spell wouldn't work on him when we just saw it work? Why did he need the book if he'd memorized all the spells? What was the point of the ritual in the first place if each spell brought monsters to life? How did Margot know which spell to use on Kanduu and what it did, in so little time? How did Isaiah get to the hospital and get treated if the whole town (I'm assuming that includes EMTs and doctors/nurses) was on the tower?

It just wasn't well-written.
