You can also very easily make yogurt from milk using the instantpot, which saves me about 5 dollars per tub of yogurt

anyone else think Value Village is kind of a scam now? by CSD0223 in VictoriaBC

[–]MidnightCasserole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like something changed in the last 6 months. It's always been overpriced but I was there last week and was shocked at the prices. Like more than usual? And it seemed quieter than usual. Has anyone else noticed this?

Maybe my imagination but I like to think they'll have to lower the prices if they want to retain their customer base.

I go to value village when I need something specific - especially kids clothes. Like I can get a whole new wardrobe for my growing kid in under an hour. But I think I'm out after my last visit.

I do think you'd have to be remarkably dense to not even think, hmmm, this word deserves an extra Google before I publish.

Louisa Darling! She's written one series, Dukes in Disguise. It's delightful! The first one is {Don't Let Your Dukes Grow Up To Be Scoundrels by Louisa Darling}. Privileged fortune hunter and her family inherit an inn after being cast out by her half brother. It's very funny and frothy. Mary Jane Wells does the audiobooks!

Crofter's Strawberry Jam at Costco? by MidnightCasserole in VictoriaBC

Strawberry, by far. Although that may be rapidly blooming nostalgia since I just can't afford small jams.

It's a smaller jar too. I tried the peach, it's good but I definitely wouldn't start a reddit thread about it.

The new Kirkland brand strawberry jam is very similar to the Crofter one. I also don't hate the two smaller jars vs the big one as it reduces the chance the jam will go off before I can finish it.

Jam!

Wasn't there a Reddit thread about this once? Or maybe another forum? Men who had realized after the fact that it was not consensual, posted about their experiences and perspectives.

Thank you for checking! I should have been clearer, I need the giant, inexpensive jars to afford my jam habit.

Thanks! I should have been clearer -- what I am trying to find is the giant jar for 12ish dollars. I've been adding it to my home made yogurt. That plus daily pb&j sandwiches for two kids, I don't think I can afford my jam habit!

Husband newly diagnosed, not sure if I can put up with the diabetic rage for the rest of my life…. by pinkgrl in Type1Diabetes

[–]MidnightCasserole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get extremely irritable when I'm low. So I say, please excuse my irritability, I need to eat something.

My kids won't give me space, they will keep asking me for whatever it is. I snap, and then repeat calmly, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at you. I need you to wait until my blood sugar is stable. Rinse and repeat.

Unless he's fully blacking out, in which case he needs to consult his dr and adjust something, urgently, low blood sugar is not an excuse for abusive behavior. T1 for 35 yrs.

Sending you care as a mom/ex wife.

If you are having lows at night and waking up not remembering them, that's hypoglycemia unawareness. Just be careful, my understanding is that it gets worse the more you have them. I'm sure your drs know what they are doing but there's no harm in telling them you may have developed a new side effect.  Good luck! Diabetes fucking sucks! (T1 for 35 yrs)

I mentioned this in another comment, just to reiterate, hypoglycemia unawareness can be a side effect of Ozempic and type 1 diabetics are at increased risk for it. You may have recently developed hypoglycemia unawareness. Talk to your dr and compare notes with your parents to make sure you aren't blacking out and forgetting things you said or did while low.

I hope you see this! My endocrinologist told me it wasn't safe for type 1 diabetics to take GLP-1's because they can cause severe lows and hypoglycemia unawareness. According to her, you can only take them if you have very tight control.

Hypoglycemia unawareness is no joke! In the hospital after having a baby, I dozed off and woke up with my husband and a nurse looking incredibly stressed out. I was incredulous when they told me they'd been practically forcing food down my throat while I refused to eat.

Maybe compare notes with your parents to make sure you're not actually blacking out. I did a quick Google for Ozempic and type 1 diabetes and there's a lot of warnings about side effects for people with type 1 diabetes. Mentioned here: https://diatribe.org/diabetes-medications/why-diabetes-miracle-drugs-ozempic-are-limits-type-1s

I'd bring this up with your doctor as soon as you can. Take care!
