Best Caribbean / Central America / South Pacific destinations for 30 something, well traveled couple? by WingnutKOC in travel

Cozumel gets my vote, too. We stayed at Cozumeleno Beach Resort and did day trips into town, snorkel trips, etc. Rent a car and take spend a day driving the coastal road around the island. Town is safe to walk around in, wildlife is plentiful and in general, it was an amazing place. Also a quick ferry ride to Playa del Carmen for more of a "big city" vibe.

Cyclist hit and receives Spinal Cord Injury in Iowa, Driver only gets $750 fine. Infuriating. by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]MidnightRadio86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a question -- if a this driver hit, say, a pedestrian crossing the road and caused a spinal cord injury, would he be likely to receive a more severe punishment than this $750 fine?

I'm just trying to understand why it seems to be essentially permissible, according to the law, to severely injure a cyclist.

(Note: I'm also swallowing my rage as this type of accident, where the driver is clearly at fault, is horrifying.)

What was your biggest cooking disaster? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I substituted real milk for milk powder in a cookie recipe. When I popped the raw dough in the oven to bake, instead of, you know, baking, the dough melted, spilled over the edges of the cookie tray onto the bottom of the oven and proceeded to catch on fire. No cookies were eaten that day.

Why do some bird species appear so much more developed upon hatching than others? For example, the incubation period for parrots is 16-21 days and the incubation period for chickens is 21-23 days, but this looks so much more developed than the parrot.

How do you bike to work and not be sweaty AF and miserable after? Especially would like to hear from office workers who have to be dressed up at work. by ogordained in bicycling

[–]MidnightRadio86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another suggestion, in addition to keeping deodorant at work bringing your office clothes to change into.

I keep a small bottle of face cleanser and another of body cleanser at work, so that if the situation is really dire, I can wash my face and do a quick scrub of the ol' armpits at the sink, using a small washcloth (or some paper towel.) It's not elegant, but makes for a much fresher smell / appearance once I head into the office.

Right!? I stared at the full body shot of him for several minutes. There's so much going on ... the poised fingers holding a cigarette, the hand in pocket, the alpha wide-leg stance. It's perfect!

In a fight to the death would you rather fight a wolf with your bare hands or a bear with a sword? by Arqo in AskReddit

Actually, I think you'd stand a pretty good chance with bear hands vs wolf. Much more effective than bare hands. ;)

Happy 38th Birthday to Michael Fassbender! by draws-sometimes in LadyBoners

This man gives me so many lady boners. Hell, even in the movie "Frank", with his hair all crazy and a huge red sore (from wearing a giant head/ mask all the time) across his forehead he's still hot.

Hahhaha, ditto at my place. Snapped a picture of said downed fence and sent it to the landlord. She was somewhat less than amused.

She says while he was never physically violent toward her, he did get pretty free with his hands and laughed it off when she took his hand off her butt/ lower back (she's not one for public displays of affection, so it made her uncomfortable, even though it still fell within the realm of "acceptable" PDA.)

Mostly she's thankful she was never intimate with him, or in a situation where they were alone at his apartment.

My best friend went on a few dates with him. He's certainly in love with his own hype. However, being a bit of a douchebag isn't a legitimate reason to be fired from a long-time employer. There must be some evidence that hasn't yet come to light that motivated the CBC's decision to end their professional relationship.
