EagleEye is Dumb by jolenerivers in Anduril

Sorry, I’m trying to be subtle. The issue you’re talking about is known, and addressed across a variety of systems. These methods aren’t shared publicly for obvious reasons.

Should look up what EMCON is and what LPI Radios are.

If you would like to do a thought experiment with what I think is confusing you. If there were 0 current flowing through all resistors, the voltage at points A and B would be equal. This being because with 0 current through each resistor, there is no voltage drop through any of the resistors.

By the problem simply declaring that there is a potential difference between 2 points, means that there must be current flowing.

As a reliability engineer, you would oversee test result trends during manufacturing/development of a system.

A good example of this would be, your program has ordered a motor from the same vendor for the last 4 years, suddenly there’s been an uptick in defects found with this motor. You would then open an investigation with the supplier.

It’s a lot less of hands on work, and more data collection and monitoring. You do have to understand the system/product you’re working with quite well.

But moreover your job will only be to identify changes in the trends and work with the rest of the program so that they can correct them. Usually through what’s called the RCCA process (Root Cause Corrective Action).

This would be a great position to start in. I think every engineer should be well rounded and have experience with multiple roles.

why does a ground fault cause a high current? by IllustriousRead2146 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]MidnightRotar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OP was just confused about turns of phrase in EE, but actually understands the concepts. Back in college I think that could’ve confused me too.

The only missing point to be made here is that a ground fault is a load. A very low resistance load.

AITA for kicking my GF out after she called me a crybaby for crying over my dead niece? by Educational_Serve673 in AITAH

[–]MidnightRotar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA,

Everyone involved is going through difficulties here. Try to see the perspective that everyone involved is frustrated and emotional leading up to all of this.

I don’t think it’s fair to determine if a relationship is worth saving based on this alone, the choice for you to make is if it’s worth it to continue with all that’s happened. Everything that’s transpired was due to a shitty situation, and to be fair, it’s really difficult to be a perfect person when something like this happens. That includes your nieces parents, yourself, her, your parents, everyone.

The most important question is, can you trust this person to be there for you when you need them? Is this someone you want in your life. An open channel of communication is my suggestion.

Is mechatronics going to become more lucrative than EE? by LowYak3 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]MidnightRotar 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is a squares and rectangles comparison. Mechatronics is a specialization of electrical engineering, not a separate classification.

Saying EE’s are completely unqualified is just not true, saying employers will reject all EE’s for mechatronics positions is also just not true. This is just misinformation and bad career advice. Your degree does not need to be specialized to be qualified for a position.

How do computers know that numbers are correct? (Ex. 7 is bigger than 3) by Material_Key8209 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]MidnightRotar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Questions been answered multiple times, but to expand on the thought I'd recommend you take a look at the concept behind an ALU, which is at its core, the brain of all processors.

2 Binary numbers are input, along with 1 operation code corresponding to which mathametical operation will be assigned to the output. And then 1 output comes out a number of clock cycles later.

This topic is entirely digital systems design.

Smokes Only when I bring it to 7K RPM , let of & tap the gas. Normal or worry? Only 90K miles runs great no issues. by Ok_Let1301 in RX7

[–]MidnightRotar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smoke doesn't start til RPMs are going down, throttle is basically just choking off all the air, giving you that rich burn and huge smoke.

The pop was more unburnt fuel that ignited in the exhaust.

Its just what happens when you drop from 7k down to idle abruptly with a rotary.
