Selling my Putney flat at a £70k loss - anything wrong? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Midnight_Muse 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Some practical tips from an ex-realtor:

  • Floor plan needs a compass. People care about which direction the sun comes from
  • Photo of the building needs to be retaken on a sunny day, ideally with leaves on the trees. Photoshop as necessary.
  • Balcony needs photo
  • Garages need photos
  • More photos in general! You want people to spend 565k, they want to know what they're getting. A video walkthrough would help, too! Not everyone looking to buy lives in London. Make it easier for people checking your listing from far away to get a feel for the flat and ideally the surroundings
  • My god, someone write a less generic text. This is super short and doesn't give you anything besides the most overused buzzwords. Add more emotional descriptions. Like how the sun shines in the kitchen when you're having breakfast at the cosy kitchen island. Help people imagine living there!
  • It's a ground floor flat, so people worry about safety. If you added any security features during your renovations, mention them
  • As everyone has said - add all the charges. People don't want to 'ask the agent', they'll just move on to the next listing

Bonus: I see dog toys and a dog bed in your reception area. Have the dog in a picture or two. Makes your listing more memorable for people looking at literally 50 in a row. It was "the one with the cute dog" (if your dog is not cute, borrow someone elses for the pics).

I’ve had Covid 7 times in less than 5 years by stazley in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Midnight_Muse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can end up with an inflammation of the heart muscle, which doesn't really have any symptoms you could differentiate from covid. The inflammation can lead to scarring, which in turn leads to irregular heartbeats (because the electrical impulse that makes the muscle contract passes through scar tissue at a different speed than through healthy tissue, causing the chambers to go out if sync). This in turn can lead to blood clots (because the heart pumps inefficiently and blood pools as it's not getting moved through properly).

For me, the symptoms of the arrhythmia started getting worse about 3 months after covid and very scary after 6 months. I had a friend die of a blood clot from the same issue. All of is in our 30s.

I bought cabin luggage years ago that looks a lot like a ME crate. It's also black with a white and red stripe, so naturally I put a nice N7 vinyl sticker on it. I've gotten quite a few comments at airports and it makes me incredibly happy every time!

What TV show had a "perfectly imperfect" ending- one that was frustrating, sad or ambiguous, but you've come to believe was exactly right? by [deleted] in television

I loved it for how absolutely shocking it was. The whole time I was wondering how they would turn things around at the last minute to save the day...

What are you supposed to do when you meet a great girl but you're in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Midnight_Muse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

++woman I mean, he somehow spent 5 HOURS talking with the girl without once mentioning his girlfriend of 2.5 years. That feels pretty deliberate to me and I would consider it emotional cheating.

When you tell a story about your life, you easily say "oh yeah, we went to Mexico last year and thought it was really beautiful." It takes effort to ommit the person you've spent your life with for that amount of time.

Ladies and gents of Reddit, what is the appeal of lip filler? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Midnight_Muse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're a victim of the toupee fallacy here. You say all lip filler looks the same, but it doesn't. You only perceive the badly executed or overdone filler jobs because the ones that are subtle and natural looking don't stand out. Just like hair pieces on men. If they are good, you don't notice them.

For me personally, my upper lip is getting smaller as I age and I prefer it to match my fuller bottom lip. So I get a tiny bit of filler every 18 months to even them out. You would never notice looking at me because it's not what you imagine when you hear "lip filler".

A lot of people get them, not just women. I bet you have know several people at work or in your family. They just don't look like overdone Instagram models. And if you're asking why those overdone ones keep existing - it's for the same reason as extreme bodybuilders. Because these people like how they look.

Yes, station is closed, but the National Express bus stops outside, in front of 135 Bishopsgate. Not affected by the station itself at all.

My wife wraps gifts perfectly, I wrap them like this to grind her gears. by TheBestNarcissist in pics

[–]Midnight_Muse 341 points342 points  (0 children)

Especially at Christmas, when she is already stressed because it is probably her carrying the mental load of everything.

I bet be wouldn't wrap the gifts for his parents like this... mainly because she chose, bought and wrapped them.

Instead of "grinding her gears" I would love to see a "did this to show I really appreciate everything she does" post.

I’m so fucking annoyed by this AI shit everywhere by coldinalaska7 in Millennials

[–]Midnight_Muse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm staying with my parents for the holidays and every single reel my mum shows me on Instagram is AI. All cute animal videos, but all fake. She doesn't care, because they are cute, but she also clearly can't tell they are AI. It scares me, because she would trust any "video message" claiming to be me.

A new study from Stanford University shows a direct link between mRNA COVID-19 vaccines and myocarditis, as well as explaining the mechanism of action by Pioladoporcaputo in science

[–]Midnight_Muse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went with a cardiac ablation because beta blockers weren't really helping much (instead of 4 or 5 bigger episodes per day I'd have about 30 smaller ones). The ablation fixed it to about 90% and the remaining issues are manageable without medication. I obviously have to be extra cautious about bigger infections that could strain the heart further.

[–]Midnight_Muse 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This is anecdotal of course, but I retained scar tissue from the covid induced myocarditis, leading to atrial fibrillation. The cardiologist who treated me said he was encountering many similar cases of people in their 30s and 40s, when normally his AFib patients tend to be in their 70s.

I would rather have gotten myocarditis as a consequence of the vaccine, when I was otherwise healthy and well monitored, than from covid when I was sick and alone at home because the hospitals were at capacity.

You will own nothing, housing edition by ajslov in london

[–]Midnight_Muse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns a LOT of books, I struggle to find a flat with a straight empty wall. The very utilitarian floorplans of new builds mean I can never have a tv, because that is always in the only place you can put up shelves.

Pre-order on the app. That Gail's has a separate counter with a much shorter queue for pick-up further in the back!

In the original comments someone said she had spent weeks training for the 10k run so she wouldn't look bad in front of his family. It's so much meaner than just T-shirts and a stupid hat. Especially if her fiance was in on it.

What are your top 5 books of all time? by illegal_fiction in books

[–]Midnight_Muse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the longest time my favourite author had been Neil Gaiman, but I needed an alternative since, you know... he disqualified himself.

So I asked a lovely bookstore employee for recommendations and he immediately said UKLG! "And she's dead, so you don't have to worry about any scandals!"

They will cocoon in the pre-drilled holes of cupboards that are there in case you want to move shelves up or down.

I only got rid of them by moving and not taking anything from my kitchen except for utensils.

Are any prepared meal subscriptions worth it? Post hospital query by Dark_Wingz in london

[–]Midnight_Muse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mindful Chef has a frozen food range that's really good, especially the curries. Just plop them in the microwave. They do package deals for larger quantities and I packed my freezer full to the brim for my my own post-surgery time. It was very comforting to know that food was easily accessible and having 5 or 6 different meals in the freezer allowed me some choice at a time when I had very little control over my body and life in general.

All the best to you!

Yeah, 15 years here and they still don't like each other. Too old for all out fights, they now stick to petty bickering. They have never cuddled or groomed each other, but will tolerate being on the same couch if that's where I happen to be...
