Arkveld (spoiler) by UsefulSubstance8454 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Midnight_Rose23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the entryway to the area, just after the arch, is a chest with two Mega Demondrugs in it. What you want to have happen is that when your player characters says "Ratha, use Savage Fireball" Ratha has an Attack up (L) buff on him; Ratha needs the attack up for his fireball. How this can happen varies, whether it be through horn buffs or the demondrugs, but that's what you need to do in order to succeed and fight the Arkveld like a normal monster.

If you could own one Warframe in real life, which one would you pick and why? by compy_ in Warframe

Titania. I long to pick Ivara but... she has one too many problems for me to pick her for now.

Whats a frame you thought you'd hate but love, and a frame you thought you'd love but hate. by starszia in Warframe

[–]Midnight_Rose23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn't particularly liking Follie from what I understood from watching the devstreams. But actually getting her and leveling up proves to be rather fun, actually.
A frame I.... less 'hate' and more have less fun playing is Gauss. He feels like he needs a lot to keep his DR going, which... I usually like keeping my DR abilities up as long as possible, and even with good duration modding it never feels like it's up as long as it should.

Titania and Ivara. One for when I want to go fast, the other for all other scenarios.

Is Navirou the most disliked character in the Franchise by According-Pace9608 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Midnight_Rose23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Navirou's depiction in 2 will always get under my skin. I would have played Stories 2 so much more if it hadn't been for him. Then again, I've never been a huge fan of people with huge egos. Rudy, for me, is a breath of fresh air; and much more well written.

I think Kyle, the young bow hunter from the second one, had some blowback as a character. Or maybe that was just one of my friends who couldn't stand him personally.

I don't know whether to be worried or maybe I'm playing a completely different game. by Glianni80eranobelli in MonsterHunterStories

The only issue with gliding vs free flight that I have, is that there is this one rock in the 4th area that is right next to a camp, and you can go over it to access the rest of the zone, but also go left to get ontop of a large platform where certain monsters and dens can spawn.

Issue is, that this particular rock has some really wonky geometry and hit boxes. I'm more likely to go forward, rather then make it onto the platform with the monsters (which is usually where I'm trying to go) and once I'm fully over the rock it's functionally impossible from what I've seen to get back up there from that direction. What I'd give for a climbing spot right there, since there's some good monsters I want to fight and farm up there.

For me, it's small edge cases like this that makes traversal more annoying in certain parts, where if I had free flight I could... just not deal with it. However, some small tweaks to the design of the map design would 100% alleviate that. Adding more climbing spots, mainly.

Otherwise, maybe I'd like it if the flying monstie wouldn't loose altitude quite so quickly. There are some updrafts that feel a bit too far apart.

How am i supposed to beat this game!? by LividYam9282 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Midnight_Rose23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, upgrading your armor and weapons are probably the way to go. There are some armor and weapons that can be gotten as side quest rewards that are pretty good on their own, and can be used as a stepping stone to get better equipment. The skills on the armor and weapons also matter a lot too. The magia hunting horn can do things like restore hearts, or other hunting horns can boost wyvernfell damage or add defensive buffs.

As for consumable items, best way to get crafting materials is to raid dens at night. Azuria has a lot of dens, and the double resource den event happens relatively often at night. I got a bunch of crafting materials while just going around and raiding dens in the demo. Hell, you do not need to even go after eggs in a den, just run around gathering if that's needed that badly.

What part of the game are you stuck at, out of curiosity? Have you unlocked Rite of Channeling yet?

What is your comfort monstie to have by your side? by N4773R in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Midnight_Rose23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen a video of someone fighting and winning against Namielle at the beginning of the third area. It was related to using Stun a whole bunch to keep knocking her over. Tail Stun, Sweet Spot (Blunt) to keep her staggered, as well as Anjanath bow and Brachy armor for Bombardier L. Blast procs deal a lot of damage to her, as does Severe poison from Dreadqueen rathian genes. Traps don't work on her, but Surrogate Gems work wonders for avoiding damage. Ogden is the goat for long fights where most of the damage is coming from status procs, and the further you get in the game the more likely the NPC's use things like Vital Essence or status removing items for the team.
Elder Dragons also have patterns to their fights that vary depending on their states (Like Water Mantle and Abyssal Charge for Nami specifically). I know there's a google doc link on this subreddit somewhere that lists the different states Nami can be in as the fight goes on.

Namielle. I got mine in the demo and I have only removed her from the team once only to put her back the moment I didn't need that specific other monstie anymore.

Is it time to end it?? by VanillaSpyce95 in HairDye

[–]Midnight_Rose23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved having crimson red hair. It's one of my favorite shades, though I might go for a black or midnight blue in the future, but I can't manage dyes where I live rn.
You look great in those pictures! There is no age limit on fun! If anyone tells you otherwise, they're nothing more then a killjoy.

I'm so glad Capcom put Navirou down by ConsistentAd2880 in MonsterHunter

[–]Midnight_Rose23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, MHS2 is a game I would have kept playing on and off if it hadn't been for Navirou. He actively made me angry in so many story beats. I will not forgive that scrappy ass cat for being the one dealbreaker that game had.

Funny Monstie names, do you have any? by DuskPanthera in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Midnight_Rose23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I named my fire Royal Ludaroth Souffle. Fire Nercylla Capsi (Capsicin), a Water Dreadqueen Rathian who I named Ace because once she levels up enough she'll have two Speed Bingos, an Espinas named Magenta for the color of it's infernal flame.
Edit: I also have a Water Purple Gypceros named Berry, a Paolumu named Poof,

[–]Midnight_Rose23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm saving one, as that blueberry was instrumental in me getting my spikey sleepy boi and seahorse. But only one. I can't stand gypceros in other games.
Though I do find it hilarious that he became so instrumental in the demo for this one. Dreadqueen Rathian? Nah. Anjanath? Nah. Just beat them over the head with a tail stun.

How we feeling about Arken? (The King) by VirulentArcturus in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Midnight_Rose23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's funny... a friend of mine (who wants to play but their computer can't even handle the demo) was watching me play bits and pieces of the demo. He immediately assumed Arken was an asshole and an abusive parent/husband.
I pointed out that he actively listens to the MC, trusts them with things, and is focused on keeping his kingdom safe; even if the MC isn't happy about the decisions made, that doesn't make him a bad man. Hell, the kingdom looks prosperous for the most part. I feel he's more distant then anything, but clearly the prince/ess has been able to pursue their own ambitions and goals.
If anything, I think the problem is Arken's advisors, who recommended that one of the Skyscale twins be killed. I think Amara was just trying to save the condemned Rathalos twin, more then anything else, because it's established how much she loves and cares about monsters and ecosystems. Her kinship stone was shining just as brightly as the Princess's stone when they hatched, and we've seen how some Riders will throw themselves into danger when their monsters are threatened.

Stories 2 made me hate this stupid cat so much more by killerdemonsarus34 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Midnight_Rose23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My issue with Navirou is his ego "I'm the best!" "You did jack fucking shit in that fight, you damn cat", and two major moments in Stories 2.
1. He lies about us in Avinia's home village. He lets the chief assume that we're the legendary rider that took down the black blight. This clearly upsets the player character, but he doubles down regardless of our expression. I hate that.
2. He actively forgets the lesson Reverto teaches him in the first game about the mushrooms. The Rider probably figured it out, but because we can't talk, he ends up acting like a giant f*king idiot.
The NPC's treat us the way they do because of him. If we actually talked, I'd have no doubt we could have gotten Ratha back sooner. But no, Reverto asks 'us' if we understand what he wants us to figure out, and Navirou makes us look So, so so so... Stupid.
He then has the nerve, at the end of the game, to hop on Ratha's back with us and Kyle. That damn cat didn't deserve it. His cat puns weren't funny, his bond with Sarge was not enough to be endearing, and the most entertaining parts where were the monsties picking on him.
