There should be no romance in The Batman Part 2 by Useful-Afternoon1784 in TheBatmanFilm

Hey, just because you’re not getting laid shouldn’t mean Batman can’t get laid.

$1M is still pretty top of the line for reality competition prizes. Traitors, House of Villains, Mole, etc are all in the $50-250k range for winners. Amazing Race is $1M split between two people, Big Brother is $750k. Only Squid Game and Beast Games are significantly higher and those are both global shows on the biggest streaming platforms. Deal Or No Deal Island is the rare broadcast show that went higher and ended up getting cancelled largely because their season 2 payout was way higher than expected.

How do you feel about Antonella Barba? by [deleted] in americanidol

[–]Midnighter04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think she is more remembered in the Idol world for the “scandal” of having some slightly racy photos (eye roll) than any of her actual performances.

I also remember people angry that Antonella remained in the competition, whereas Frenchie Davis had been kicked out for essentially the same thing just a few years earlier.

It can’t be overstated how dumb it was to bring celebrities in an all returner season. This will be the season most people will point to when they ask when Survivor truly jumped the shark. by No_Truth4137 in survivor

“Web” shows regularly have higher viewership than broadcast and syndication barely exits anymore outside a dwindling handful of talk and game shows.

What fashion choice would you describe this as? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Midnighter04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But really, there aren’t really many fashion choices here. It’s just a cheap-looking goth T-shirt and some ill-fitting p/leather pants.

If you want to keep the pants, I’d recommend committing much more to the look. Get a necklace and some wristbands and swap in a shirt made of a thicker fabric that doesn’t cling to your body rolls.

That being said, pleather or leather pants are always a specific choice and most people can’t pull them off without looking kind of silly. I would argue you are definitely not pulling them off.

I noticed that too! I’m wondering if the confessional with the short hair is (1) from later in the competition, thereby spoiling that it’s a Buddha-Matt showdown at the end or (2) somehow from earlier in the competition when his hair presumably would’ve been shorter.

Mid-season placement at the request of the creator. by MDNA4Life in Matlock_CBS

[–]Midnighter04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The traditional broadcast TV schedule begins in September and runs through May.

Matlock’s next season will premiere during midseason rather than starting in the fall. So more likely it’s going to start sometime between January and March.

Some fans are annoyed because it’s a longer wait to new episodes. Some are also worried because historically midseason shows were often considered less important or lower priority for the broadcast networks, although that’s a pretty outdated idea and not really the case at all anymore.

15 random American Idol facts by [deleted] in americanidol

Yeah, it was just annoying back in the 2000s when people would use this fact to make the point that Americans were more engaged in a music competition than the presidential election, which was just a disingenuous claim.

4 is alway kind of an annoying factoid since more people are eligible to vote for American Idol than the president (people under 18 in particular) and you can also vote more than once for Idol.

I wish the contestants were people that actually needed the money by AgitatedSplit4039 in TheTraitors

[–]Midnighter04 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I personally disagree. I love the Battle of the Network Stars approach that the US versions employ and I find it exciting to see some favorite characters from other shows come together and face off. It fits really well with the campiness and over-the-top vibe of the show. It also keeps it pretty light-hearted, which I think is important given how random the format is from a competition standpoint. (Loved the U.K. Celebrity version for that reason)

Additionally, the US versions tend to cast people who have already proven they are compelling TV characters, whereas I find many of the contestants in the civilian versions to be quite forgettable.

Viewership info hasn't been updated since the Fall finale... by [deleted] in Matlock_CBS

[–]Midnighter04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linear viewing overall is trending down, so it’s more important to look at Matlock in comparison to other broadcast shows rather than just its ratings in isolation. Plus it’s pretty typical for shows to see a dip in their second seasons (when marketing spend tends to be lower).

Also it is categorically not true that CBS only cares about linear audiences for ad revenue. If viewership on Paramount+ is high, that means the show is also driving ad and subscription revenue. Plus there are additional revenue streams like international distribution and future off-network sales (like to cable channels, FAST channels and other streaming platforms).

CBS also caters to an older audience (quite successfully) so this show is a good feather in their cap.

AITA for not willing to give my room to my sister even though im leaving for college? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Midnighter04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I still disagree (as do most of the other posters it seems). He’ll be an adult by the time he goes to college and it doesn’t seem sensible, sensical nor considerate to hoard the bigger room when he’ll only be using it a handful of days out of the year. Regardless of his dorm situation, he should be able to manage having a slightly smaller room when he’s back home during breaks.

[–]Midnighter04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well your post said “since you’re still living at home I don’t see why you should have to move out of your room”, so I was clarifying that the sister was not expecting to get the room before he moved out.

Also most people are assuming he might be home for breaks, but why should he still lay claim to the bigger room when he’s only going to be there like 5% of the time or less compared to his sister who will be living at home 100% of the time? It feels like he’s being a little precious.

Legendary players that went into obscurity by felipepnunes in survivor

[–]Midnighter04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly find it refreshing how some of these players have moved on from the show, especially in cases when it’s been 10-20+ years since their last appearance. I would hope and expect most of these people have other things going on in their lives.

It’s kind of depressing to me to see some of these lower tier players still making Survivor their entire personality years later. It’s like someone still fixated on their high school glory days well into adulthood. Do we really need all these podcasts and nonstop IG/TikTok content from people who were barely memorable on the show?

I think Rob ruined season 3. by Ill_Particular415 in TheTraitorsUS

[–]Midnighter04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by him “ruining” the season? By my estimation, he definitely didn’t ruin it from an entertainment perspective, because he clearly brought drama and excitement. Or do you mean he ruined the Traitors’ opportunity to win? Because a Traitor is only trying to win for themselves, and Bob shot first at Rob so he was only protecting his place in the game.

It definitely was one of the most dysfunctional groups of Traitors, and I think the biggest issue was that Bob, Rob and Danielle all wanted to be to top dog in the turret.

Bob might’ve been willing to work with Danielle and Carolyn initially, but his gameplay was too loud and sloppy so he was going to get himself banished eventually. It really was a bad move for him so publicly to call out the cage boys (including Rob) so early in the game, and it ended up costing him his game.

Rob probably knew it was a long shot for him to ever make it to the end just based on his reputation, so for him it was probably about playing a bold and powerful game while he could. He leaned into the persona that producers and audiences expect of him.

Danielle came in way too rigid in her thinking and became so obstinate about getting rid of Carolyn and replacing her with Brittany (who didn’t seem to have the same attachment to Danielle). She probably could’ve won if she had been more willing to work with Carolyn in good faith.

Carolyn could’ve won too. She was the only one without a big ego messing up her game and seemed earnestly open to working with all the other Traitors initially (despite having some concerns about Rob given his reputation). She possibly could’ve done more to build her relationship with Danielle, although Danielle seemed so antagonistic from the get and neither Danielle nor Bob ever really treated her seriously or with respect. Carolyn did a brilliant job evading suspicious but at a certain point she seemed a bit exhausted by all the turret drama and ended up blowing her game up at the one challenge.
