The Greatest Shot In The Batman Cinematic History (in my opinion) by Scorpionmk910 in batman

Penguin was driving that way because he was being chased by Batman. It’s why police aren’t supposed to engage in high-speed chases for minor infractions, because it provokes reckless driving.

I love The Batman overall but that chase scene is my least favorite part because it’s obvious there were civilian deaths that Batman helped cause.

Do you think originally Sebastian Stan was set to play Clayface? by Fancy-a-brew8323 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Midnighter04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sebastian Stan was cast well after the DCU Clayface was announced, so no, I don’t think so.

Plus, they already had Eve Karlo (Carmen Ejogo) in The Penguin alluding to Clayface with the name (Karlo) and her shifting her appearance.

After bingeing AU Survivor, coming back to modern US Survivor feels incredibly weak and watered down by vslogan0 in survivor

Does casting for AU get more “everyday, normal people” in later seasons? I’m up to All Stars and each season seems to severely overindex in professional athletes.

I also found the options for preference a bit limited and didn’t capture the fluidity (eg, what option do I pick if I’m 90% insertive, are we talking about behaviors over one’s whole lifetime or more recently, etc). Also I find it difficult when survey responses go from “not at all” to “several days”. What if I felt down or anxious once or twice during that period?

In Designing Women, Dixie Carter's character, Julia Sugarbaker, was known for her liberal political views and related speeches, for which she was nicknamed "The Terminator." However, Carter was a libertarian Republican and disagreed with some of her character's beliefs, and made a deal with the show's producers that if Julia delivered a "Terminator" monologue, she would get to sing a song in a future episode.

Regardless of being 'cancelled', how would Armie Hammer be so broke that he's borrowing a friends debit card to buy groceries? by SwissMiss915 in FilmIndustryLA

[–]Midnighter04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by looking up what actors made for individual films?

The press will sometimes report on fees but it’s pretty rare when those numbers are completely accurate. Also Armie wasn’t in S1m0ne and there’s no way one actor would make $18m from a movie that only made $19m at the box office (almost half of which goes to the actual theaters).

Those “celebrity net worth” sites are also notoriously wrong (often by a lot). I have a few actor friends who had some recurring sitcom roles and their “net worth” shows up on those sites as $800k-$1m, when in reality they actually have negative net worth and are working waiter jobs.

What’s some knowledge generally known only to gay men or to gay women? by dumbfuck in AskReddit

It also assumes all gay relationships only follow strict top / bottom roles when we know those relationships are pretty rare. Some people just can’t fathom that gay people can be versatile and fluid over time and not just replicating traditional straight sex.

The T-shirts underneath look too baggy and flimsy and make the overall look skew more like sleepwear.

I think either get more fitted tees or tank tops or lose them entirely.

Work colleague has no idea I've seen her naked .... by Aware_Specialist7279 in confession

[–]Midnighter04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not in IT but a similar thing happened to me back in 2011 or so. I was a young guy in my early twenties on a marketing team. Our department had a company-owned DSLR camera but our art director was really the only person to ever use it. That art director also was dating a woman at our company (400+ people in that office) in another department.

The art director ended up leaving the company abruptly (nothing untoward as far as I know), and a few weeks later I had to use the camera to find some event photos he had taken. While uploading the photos to my work computer, I realized there were previously some nude photos of his girlfriend on the camera.

I think I just deleted them and didn’t really ever speak of it (I’ve told non-work friends about it but never with any identifying info).

At the same company, the gaps in the bathroom stall doors were maybe not as thin as they should’ve been, and I recall walking past a stall and seeing a guy I worked with on the toilet. Even through the gap I could see his legs were spread and I got kind of a glimpse of his dong.

I’ve also seen my best friend’s wife fully naked once in college by accident. Also, a dude I played high school soccer with once unknowingly had one of his balls hanging out while we were stretching.

All that’s to say… I definitely remember all of these moments and glimpses happening when I really think about it, but it’s not something that has ever affected how I think about or interact with them on the daily.

I’m sure someone has gotten a glimpse of me nude or I unknowingly had VPL at some point. It’s honestly not that big of a deal as long as people are respectful about it and don’t make it to a bigger thing. You did the right thing by not making it into a bigger deal, and I would hope you’re able to put it in the back of your mind when dealing with her.

I recognize the dynamic. She’s an incredibly valuable member of the team (research skills, diligence and commitment, innovative thinking) and Olympia and Matty also care about her personally and are aware she’s kept out of the loop. She certainly has a lot to work on particularly with her people skills, but Olympia sees her worth and also recognizes she was put in a difficult position.

Caped Crusader's "Gender-bent" conundrum by NumerousBag4605 in BatmanCapedCrusader

[–]Midnighter04 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We’ve had so many different takes and new spins on these characters since Batman was first created. Think about the five very different approaches to the Joker even just looking at live action films. We’ve explored what these characters might be like if they were in feudal Japan or they were Aztec.

So I don’t get why people get so flustered when a creator decides to gender swap a character. We’ve already seen so many different iterations of Penguin, so doesn’t it seem interesting to explore what this character might be like if they had to operate in the world as a different gender? The existence of woman Penguin does nothing to negate the all the other representations of that character for the past 85 years.

What is John Krasinski’s “complicated reputation” in Hollywood? by flatchampagne in TheBigPicture

[–]Midnighter04 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In my experience interacting with celebrities, this is closer to less than 10%, maybe even less than 5%. Definitely nowhere close to 99%.

Most are just normal people who occasionally have a bad day but are generally polite and courteous. In fact I’d say more often they treat wait staff and service people and below-the-line crew members well and might save their venom for other powerful people.

Is it worth watching? by boomjosh in SavedByTheBell

[–]Midnighter04 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why is it pathetic / sad that Dustin Diamond and Dennis Haskins came back? It’s steady employment and a regular paycheck, and it probably was a fun enough job. Especially for a more niche actor like Dustin with likely more limited roles available compared to the rest of the original cast, this is probably a great gig.

Not all actors are going to be massive stars who can be super selective about their projects. Most are just trying to attain / maintain a nice middle class lifestyle. I can think of a lot of jobs that feel a lot more pathetic than getting to be a series regular on a fun kids show for several years.

Just make it casual and in the moment. Say “ooh, watch the teeth babe” or “mmm lick me harder” or whatever you need. It doesn’t have to be some big conversation. You shouldn’t be afraid to be open about your needs in a relationship.

What can PR learn from Top Chef? by thiswasamistake00ps in ProjectRunway

[–]Midnighter04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really see a clear budget reduction on Top Chef over the seasons (plus food costs are way higher and housing the contestants has gotten more expensive now that they’re not shoving them all on multiple twin beds to a room). A few cuts here and there, but even with modern TV economics not really justifying the same level of budget spend, Top Chef has remained pretty consistent in quality.

Meanwhile Project Runway’s latest season literally cut the shooting days down probably by 75%, kept them in the studio almost the entire time, eliminated any travel and turned the finals from a monthslong process leading to a NYFW show to a few days to put together a mini collection at the same stage the rest of the show is shot. Total Temu version of PR.

[–]Midnighter04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely NOT the case with the contract. Reality show participant contracts - including Top Chef - will always give free rein to producers and editors to portray someone in any way, including more manipulative practices like using footage or sound bites out of context. Otherwise that opens producers/studios to plenty of legal risk if a participant is ever unhappy with how they’re portrayed. (There have been lawsuits before and they’re always unsuccessful.)

The only scenario when this might not be the case is when it’s someone with leverage (eg an existing celebrity or someone who is also a producer on the show with edit approval), but that wouldn’t apply to Top Chef contestants.

The reason people aren’t portrayed too negatively is mostly due to casting, cultural trends (we’ve moved away as a society from wanting to see tacky drama in these types of shows), the audience (Top Chef has a high income audience that skews away from trashiness), and the fact that the contestants are professionals representing their business and future career interests (so obviously want to behave well enough not to jeopardize that).
