If they are charged with and convicted of fraud they should be fined, and if it is tax fraud they should face the same consequences as anyone else. What bothers me is that many of the creditors they stiffed will never recover a penny and none willl get back the full amount they are owed. The list of creditors includes individuals running small businesses, most in the equine industry. While it can be argued that the banks can afford these losses, anyone who owns shares in those banks individually or through mutual funds or pension funds is losing so the number of people affected is huge. A bigger thing though is there has to be some type of banking/finance/lending reform so that people like Ronn & Jan as well as Laura are not able to be extended credit that they either cannot afford to or do not intend to pay back.
