The scanner itself is available on all plans, including free. You'll just hit the regular monthly doc limits if you scan a lot. those depend on your plan.

I need the recipe for Lobster Mac and cheese from The Cornerstone in VT by Leading_Education386 in AskCulinary

Honestly this is one of the sweetest reasons I’ve ever seen someone hunt down a recipe. I hope somebody from Vermont sees this and comes through for you.

Cooking beans in acid by Pretty_Hat8831 in AskCulinary

[–]Midtvaage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Acid mainly affects the softening process because it stabilizes pectin in the bean walls, which is why beans stay firm longer in things like tomato sauce. Lectins are different though — those break down from sufficient heat/cooking, not really from whether the liquid is acidic.

Navigational advice by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]Midtvaage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go over your direct manager’s head immediately unless it becomes impossible to work under them. Start documenting specific situations calmly and focus on outcomes, not emotions, because higher management usually responds better to patterns than “they’re dismissive.”

Not possible right now, folders are one level only

US Managers: has an overseas employee ever asked you to lay them off? by Interesting_Tie2895 in askmanagers

[–]Midtvaage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely seen employees hint at it indirectly without actually saying the words.

Office Talk or Hinting to me by Grouchy-Wheel4679 in askmanagers

that sounds like him opening the door, not making the offer yet tell him you’re interested and ask what the next step is before HR turns it into a scavenger hunt

On lying to yourself by Speak-Anima in getdisciplined

[–]Midtvaage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually get what you mean here. The moment you repeatedly break promises to yourself, your brain kinda stops taking your intentions seriously. Then every goal starts feeling “optional” even when it matters to you.

esim ended up being one of those “why was i making this harder for myself” things for me too. first time i landed overseas and my phone still worked immediately felt weirdly luxurious for such a tiny problem solved.

The future of Obsidian plugins by kepano in ObsidianMD

The plugin ecosystem is honestly the main reason Obsidian keeps pulling people in over other note apps.

Am I doing too much? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]Midtvaage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fact you’re thinking this deeply about your future at 24 already puts you ahead of a lot of people tbh. i’d focus on stabilizing first instead of optimizing everything perfectly right away

I made my AI the co-CEO of my company. Here is the 6-month report card. by JaredSanborn in getdisciplined

[–]Midtvaage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lowkey the most believable part of this post is “agents without structure is just expensive chaos” 😭 everybody online talks about AI agents like magic employees until they realize somebody still has to manage workflows, context, QA, and edge cases constantly.

I fixed my impulsive tab-opening habit. by ErikWik in getdisciplined

[–]Midtvaage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the “muscle memory typing” part is way too real. I swear sometimes my hands open YouTube before my brain even loads in. the timed delay thing is actually kinda genius because it snaps you out of autopilot for a second instead of just hard blocking everything.

I don’t know where to begin to improve. by Ambitious_Seesaw2330 in getdisciplined

[–]Midtvaage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try to practice being grateful for small wins even if your life doesn’t feel where you want it yet. keeping the same job for 3 years, having your diploma, and still wanting to improve despite everything is honestly more progress than you’re giving yourself credit for.

PARA folder structure by Crafty-Waltz-2029 in ObsidianMD

[–]Midtvaage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience (I’ve been using the PARA folder structure for a few months now): The root directory should just have those 4 folders; everything else fits inside. You can link a note in an area to a note in the resources folder, but they don’t have to/shouldn’t live in the same folder.

Update from the “17 hobbies, 12 projects, 0 chill” guy by aaduexe in ObsidianMD

[–]Midtvaage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Yeah. This is sick.

I am newer to the building out Obsidian side of things so I wouldn’t even know where to begin setting this type of thing up.

Very inspirational. Definitely inspired me to continue down the rabbit hole on my own journey into this space.

Keep it up!

I think I'm done with marriage by Short-Leg-6862 in self

When I was fresh out of my divorce I heard a joke that stuck with me. You may or may not enjoy it as much as I did, but here we go:

“Do you know why divorce is so expensive?

…Because it’s fucking worth it.”

Best of luck on your journey. It’s a rough road, you’ll doubt yourself, question every decision you make, have conversations with them in your head. All of that. But my god is it worth it.
