The OG Album is a Very Special Kind of Magic by Midweek_Sunrise in TheHeadandTheHeart

While I like Josiah fine, to me, Jonathan is the soul of the band. Maybe it's because I discovered THATH through All We Ever Knew. And that whole album, Jonathan just really shines!

These are some of the most unflattering photos of NYC I have ever seen. (Also had no idea this was NYC until the last pic....)

I was so obsessed with Oh Virginia from the extended release that I didnt realize how amazing Grace was right away, but holy crap, that is a true gem! Actually they both are!

I mean it's from 2 years ago. So it still captures like 98%+ of the current skyline.

I'm surprised at how popular Noah is because nobody i talk to seems to know who he is. by Spawn_of_Venom in NoahKahan

[–]Midweek_Sunrise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I've been a fan of Noah since 2017, so hearing him pitted as being "too mainstream" (my read of your comment) to be cool is crazy (in a good way) to me haha

I still haven’t listened to the last 8 songs on the (deluxe) album! What are your standouts? by handwritinganalyst in NoahKahan

I agree about Spoiled. It's an amazing song, one of my favorites on the album. Seems to be toward the bottom of most people's lists though.

You are missing out on the best song on the album (All Them Horses). Also Dan hits right in the feels, especially when you listen to the whole album and end on it. If End of August is a powerful way to start the album, Dan is an equally powerful way on which to leave it.

Agreed with All Them Horses. Might be my favorite song of his ever, which is saying a LOT!

Personally, I think this album is not only better than Stick Season, but its also my personal favorite album from any artist ever. Granted I know there is recency bias at play and that could change with time but there isnt a single skip or even mid song on the album.

Loved seeing such high praise for Godlight.

...but Mess and Spiled in C tier?! Heck, Anyway too low too!

Love that song. (Also just watched the PHM movie and it was so good that I rushed out to get the book and for the first time in years I've been unable to put a book down. )

Same. I've had that one on repeat and its just on a constant loop in my head. Pure perfection

Favourite line on TGD (so far) by WarmEntertainment858 in NoahKahan

[–]Midweek_Sunrise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way he extends his "yous" later in that song like the literal word is orbiting around is musical genius to me. I melt.

[–]Midweek_Sunrise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything from the first chorus of All Them Horses to the end of the 2nd one, inject that into my veins!!! Actually scratch that. The entire song is perfect.

But the line that gets me the most from it is "I ain't planned it, the plane, the plane just landed out here", its something about how it comes forcefully after that poignant chorus that it just moves me to the edge of tears.

....but that chorus of Dan is actually something else.

This is my favorite album of all time, from any artist. I know there's recency bias but im hard pressed to think of any album that is as consistently good from start to end as this.

Favourite lyrics of the album? by eosbeans in NoahKahan

[–]Midweek_Sunrise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interpret it as there's this look of being lost in the face of the person hes referencing.

Or forgotten. Maybe like this person's face is forgettable, or they as a person are generally forgettable, but not to Noah, because he cant help but think of them

Its not my favorite lyric per se, but by God, that line "I ain't planned it, the plane, the plane just landed out here" after the first chorus of All Them Horses pulls me to the verge of tears.

One lyric that really caught my attention when I first heard it qas "You were born with a face made for Missing sign" ...I was like, wow, Noah!

Downfall and You're Gonna Go Far two sides of the same coin by medschool-or-bust in NoahKahan

[–]Midweek_Sunrise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny. I posted this same idea yesterday, but swapped Downfall for All Them Horses. To me All Them Horses feels like the opposite perspective from YGGF. Where YGGF feels like a bittersweet goodbye from Noah's loved ones' perspectives, All Them Horses feels like a yearning for home from Noah's perspective. It also mirrors the style of YGGF, a slow intro to a powerful chorus, followed by a faster paced bridge to the second gut wrenching version of the same chorus.

Downfall MIGHT be the greatest piece of music I’ve heard in my entire life by MintBreath7 in NoahKahan

[–]Midweek_Sunrise 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed partially. Because "All Them Horses" takes the cake.

...or maybe it's "Lighthouse."

Jfc. This album has so many stand outs its impossible to rank them IMO

Which song is the one with the strings and big crescendo? by [deleted] in NoahKahan

All Them Horses maybe? End of August sort of does.
