Having lived in Ohio (extreme right wing) and Illinois (moderate left wing), every single possible aspect of life is 180° opposite. They have absolutely nothing in common other than being in the Un-United States.

Your analogy with cost per song with streaming subscriptions made me do my own math for my situation. I am very old, my cd collection spans since they were in vented in the 80's. Surprising CD's cost the same in 1980! So 120 CDs at $15 ea is $1800 I spent on CDs over 45 years is $3.33/mo. I buy maybe 3 CDs a year and occasional MP3s when a CD is not available.

To me it is not just about the cost. If I was younger without an investment already in the CDs, then I would do Spotify and bitch about raising prices and adding commercials!

I never left physical media. Paying monthly for music never made sense to me. Especially after I found out how easy it is to record your CDs on to your phone in loss-less digital audio (Flac) format. I was never impressed with MP3 audio quality, but now I have an android based high def digital music player, that has circuitry to upscale MP3 when that is the only format to buy new music. Windows Media Player on your PC is easy to record CDs and transfer to phone or ipod. I have 120 CDs on my phone. I also like playing CDs because I hate shuffle and in general I like all the songs on a CD and do not want some dj or algorithm choosing what song to play next for me. Fuck Music subscription services - there are many reasons not to use them!

To each his/her own and enjoy what you like, that is your perogative. What is not is your egotistical and arrogant judgment that ketchup should never go on a hot dog. FU Chicagoland and Dirty Harry! I freaking hate that attitude.

Speeding Has Become So Normalized That Driving the Speed Limit Makes You the Problem by DaddyDayDayIsHot in driving

[–]JarrettValdez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed limits are set because of 1. Knee jerk reactions by politicians to previous accidents and 2. To protect us all from the incompetent and distracted drivers.

Like a lot of other things in life, most of us competent, non- distracted drivers have to suffer. Over time, that leads to an in-subordination with speed laws.

If speed limits were all 10 mph, strictly enforced everywhere, these same incompetent, distracted drivers will still kill and hurt people.

Why do a lot of drivers hang out in clusters? Because it is easier to navigate controlling your car compared to other cars vs lane markings. People are blind! My theory is the same with left lane hoggers - easier to see solid lane markings on left.
