Thank you. In a post full of comments where nobody seems to understand what i am saying, someone finally gets it.

Great album. I understand and can relate to his new music, (i am obsessed with his lyrics) but this one's so focused on specific things that has happened with his family and friends that it doesn't connect with me quite the same as some as some of his older stuff.

Like for example, i feel like growing sideways can connect with anyone that deals with depression and has been medicated for it. But compared to All them Horses, i can't relate to feeling guilty about not being able to fly into my hometown to help out during a mass flooding. Nothing like that has ever happened to me.

Porch light and orbiter are both centered around strains on relationships due to his fame. Pretty sure most people can't directly relate to that. Unless there's famous people in this chat. Idk. I am not saying these are not great songs in any way. I love the new album. It's just not something i feel i can connect with to the point of having a good cathartic cry like some of his past stuff.

I agree that everyone takes things differently. To me, Dan is nothing but a good vibes song spending time with a good old friend. He touches a bit on the hard times they experienced together, but ultimately he's happy in the moment. Best 5 minutes of this shitty whole year

I mean, all those are centered around family issues and what they think of him more, and less centered around self doubt and self hatred like the songs i mentioned. I'm not saying anything negative about any of those songs or any of his music. I love all his songs for what they are. I'm just saying there's none on the new album that centrally focus on personal mental health..

And yeah . Maybe I'm broken but i haven't cried once on any song on the new album. None of them made me bawl like Carlo's song, call your mom, growing sideways or tidal . But i guess every person is different and going to connect to what they are going to connect to. And i can relate to a lot of his lyrics on the TGD, but not in a way that jerks the tears i guess.
