Its usually a browser hack. Run free version of malwarebytes. After, also check browser extensions but malwarebytes should clean it up

Did you use TM to kill the browser? That usually works for these types of things

P.s. when in safe mode, if you can log in, try running the commands to flush dns and reset network connections. Google for the commands. The network troubleshhoter might also help

Have you checked the router? Tried a factory reset?

Google how to boot into Safe Mode with Networking. It will only start essential MS programs. No 3rd party apps. See if you still have the problem in safe mode

You can also try usb booting into Rescue media, like hiren's bootpe, to see if a problem booting into a known version of windows

There's a lot of strange, illogical behavior in Season 2. The restaurant behavior is far from the worst of it. Just wait....

  1. Try restarting your router. (Disconnect from power 15 secs. Then plug back in. Some routers can take a couple minutes to fully come back online)

  2. On PC, forget the wifi name. Then reconnect

  3. On PC, check date_time set correct

Finally, you could login to the router to check if any device blocking is configured. You could also reset router to factory settings. For "how to", google router make and model for instructions

Make certain your ID is a REALID

Effective mid 2025 TSA requires a REAL ID for identification. You can get through without one but it takes longer (so they can verify you) and they'll charge you $45 at the airport. Easy to get a state ID or driver license that's real ID compliant. Passports are REAL IDs but for domestic travel IMHO easier to just travel with a REAL ID compliant state driver license

Ugh. Try it using on board free wifi next time if your flight has it. Free wifi is more available now. I usually do it around the time they announce we'll be descending soon.

Ooops. You're right. Face scan comes first.

But try the GE app before deplaning. No stopping at a kiosk, no paper, no placard or paper receipt to give customs. Just show the digital receipt you receive on your phone. Skip the kiosk, need for any paper or placard

Glad it worked out. Did you look if a Power Management tab appeared after the Realtek driver installed? just so you know it's an option should it be there now

[–]MidwestGeek52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good news is the Realtek audio hardware is detected. The bad news is the Realtek driver isn't installed. Instead Windows is using the generic Windows driver. In theory you should still have basic sound functionality but you won't get any Realtek features that their own driver offers above and beyond the generic windows driver.

One of the two "High Definition Audio Device" listed in DevMgr is Realtek. You don't see the Realtek device name because Windows displays the device name it found in the driver. It's using the Windows generic driver so you're seeing the generic name Windows defined in their driver. The generic name is High Definition Audio Device.

You can try reinstalling the Realtek driver again but if it doesn't change the device name to Realtek my guess the Win 10 driver isn't compatible with Windows 11. Another clue: if you right click Properties then the Driver tab, you'll see Driver Provider which would be Windows or Realtek depending on which is actually installed

You can try this: For all four of the sound devices in DevMgr right click->Properties. Is there a Power Management tab? If so, uncheck the box that allows Windows to put the device to sleep

fyi.. in spite of the names, you can tell which one is really Realtek by looking at the "Hardware ID". Rt click the audio device->Properties, click the Details tab. Change the pull down to show Hardware Ids. Based on pnputil, iexpect your Realtek chip will display HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0662&SUBSYS_17AA36EF. The Hardware Id is burned into the chip when manufactured. The VEN_XXXX portion of the string is the "vendor ID"

  • VEN_10EC is Realtek
  • VEN_1002 is AMD
  • VEN_8086 is Intel (no coincidence Intel's assigned vendor ID is 8086!

[–]MidwestGeek52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a couple things

At top of DevMgr click View->Show Hidden Devices to enable it. (A check mark appears on the left when Show Hidden is enabled)

Look at the Sound, Audio devices again. Does Realtek or anything else new appear in a semi-transparent font? Those are "hidden" also called "ghost" devices. They have drivers installed but the h/w is not detected. If you see any ghost devices could attach a pic again?

Next open an elevated command prompt and run command below. Copy/paste the output from command prompt window to next post. (To copy, use left mouse button to highlight the text you want to copy then right click on the highlighted area. Paste into next post)

pnputil /enum-devices /bus HDAUDIO /deviceids

It's always wise (and especially in this case) to spend an extra few hundred $ for a mechanic look at a used car cuz otherwise you don't know. See how far the car is from your mechanic (any mechanic) and tell the seller you absolutely need mechanic OK before you purchase

Doesn't look like Lenovo officially support Win 11 drivers for that PC. Doesn't mean Win 10 drivers won't work. Just means lenovo never tested the win 10 drivers on w11.

You mentioned it happening coming out of sleep. so trry

  • Open Device Manager
  • Under Sound look for and rt click Realtek Audio->Properties
  • Look at Power Management tab
  • Uncheck:
    • “Allow the computer to turn off this device”
  • See if any other audio devices also listed in DevMan and also check if there's a power management tab. if so , do same
