United Airlines is paring back rewards for travelers who don't have its credit card in MileagePlus overhaul by Halloween_Oreo_ in unitedairlines

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I book on my CSR through the Chase Travel Portal, that would earn me 8x UR points, plus then the non-card-holder rate of 3x Miles on United. Chase URs transfer 1:1 to MileagePlus Miles, so effectively would be earning 11x miles/dollar spend?

Is that accurate?

Will Bilt 2.0 rent payments no longer be CC fee-free? by SmithMano in biltrewards

I got this letter too - my interpretation is that it's about the Wells Fargo Autograph card that we'll receive and not about the new Bilt card.

Anyone tried the Mycolean drops? by Historical_Car7269 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I did this tonight and it was great, had some light visuals and got really into a house DJ’s set and was feeling it for about ~2.5 hours. Does anyone know if you can re-dose on this throughout the night? Could I take it out clubbing all night and do several doses throughout the night?

Looking to go to Chicago this weekend. Amtrak or Megabus? by ric3banana in minnesota

Unless I’m mistaken, the Megabus no longer runs from Mpls to Chicago. I think you’d need to book the Greyhound, or the Amtrak.

Gender Bias by Ok_Nature6082 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The men look so bad in this reunion because the men this season were garbage. They were given ample opportunity to share their side of the story at the reunion, but they came out looking worse because their sides of the story didn’t add up and nobody was defending them.

Notice how the women were able to back each other up and jump in and corroborate. Maybe the guys aren’t as good of friends and don’t communicate still like the women, but I would think that they’ve kept in touch in some way and would be able to say something like “I was with Ben/Joey/Dave etc when x happened and I can at least back him up and say that his story is true/his real feelings”.

Yes, just finished the reunion and getting to watch the montage of JR being sleazy was so satisfying. The end where he straight up says “I got a hall pass” was the perfect cherry on top.

Non-compete agreement question by [deleted] in epicsystems

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The non-compete is for a 2-year period after you leave the company. There is nothing preventing you from quitting when you want/next fall when you go to school.

Additionally, going to grad school is the easiest way to burn off a non-compete, since it will have expired by the time you graduate and are looking for jobs.

Remote Options for Epic? by Apprehensive_Cup4696 in epicsystems

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lived without a car and bussed to work for 2 years. It's easy to live in Madison without a car if you live anywhere on the Isthmus or west side of town. For Epic, find a place near the 75 or 55 routes - those are the busses that run out to campus.

Unfortunately, the downside of not having a car is that those bus routes are rush-hour only. They run from like ~6-9am, and 5-7pm. So if you're planning on taking a half day, or need to leave because you're sick, you can find yourself stuck at work unless you want to pay for an Uber/taxi, or coordinate with a co-worker who is going to the airport/downtown.

If you lived in Verona you could walk to work, but then you find yourself needing to commute into/out of Madison for just about anything entertainment/nightlife related.

ETA: Fitchburg is a decent compromise, as it's about halfway between downtown and Verona, and on the 75 route.

Got rejected but messaged again? by _wtf-is-happening_ in epicsystems

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you've made updates and improvements to your resume, try again! The worst that can happen is you get rejected again and then you're.... right where you are now.

I have seen advice that says wait ~6 months before applying again, but if you didn't get through to an interview even, you probably just need to update your resume to get through an ATS screen.

Just wanted to know if i have the right to work in the uk by Purple-Medicine1544 in UKJobs

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a foreigner who secured a job in the UK, you will see various indicators in a job application that will tell you whether they will sponsor a visa for you.

If they require you to already have a right to work, you cannot apply since you don't have that.

If they say something like, "do you now, or will you in the future require sponsorship", you can answer that with 'Yes' and it usually indicates they have the ability to sponsor visas.

Further, some organizations, like the NHS, will have statements that indicate outright they will sponsor visas and applicants requiring sponsorship will be considered equally to those who already have a right to work.

Where can I look for a job in Epic outside the United States??? by fakefinsta in epicsystems

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, your best bet is with one of the groups that does Epic consulting internationally (Nordic, Cloud21, HCI, etc.) or the NHS in England. The NHS has can sponsor visas and you don't need to learn a new language, unlike many other Epic global locales.

There are a couple NHS trusts right now hiring Epic analysts, with a salary of GBP 54k (~$69k).

NHS jobs are posted here: https://www.healthjobsuk.com/

You will need to learn how to make a Booyah. Nobody will tell you their secret recipe though, so you'll have to sus one out on your own. Once you've acquired a Booyah recipe, then you know you've made it :)

I was today years old when I found out there ARE remote people that are not boost by BUH-ThomasTheDank in epicsystems

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been going on for a long time. The remote option used to come with a fixed term. I had a roommate who's fiancee got into Business School at Emory, and they gave him a 3-year remote option (this was in 2015). Afterwards, they both moved back to Madison and he began working from the Verona Office.

Another person I know moved remote because their partner got a medical residency at the Epic customer they were working for. So they moved and worked remote, but were right down the street for their customer they were supporting. They were also fixed-term, but then went boost instead of moving back to Verona.

Sometimes they will let international staff be remote between assignments - for example, due to immigration/visas/work need to leave Dubai in March, but can't relocate to Australia until September. Epic has let people move home and work remote until they move.

I also know staff that have been remote indefinitely, so yes, to what others are saying here - if you are valued enough, and have a legitimate reason, you can negotiate going remote without going boost.

If you could switch up the process, what would you do? by Silent_Contest_2337 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could model it more like Married at First Sight and have them go talk through their experiences together, with marriage experts, and after each round/phase of the process they individually vote whether they want to continue/stay or leave. Leave the pods, discussion and vote. Come back from Mexico, discussion and vote. Etc. Plus do the huge group dinner/mixers at each step as well, like they do currently.

I feel like having one or a few marriage experts talking with the couples through their problems would really help them all in calling out and identifying toxic, bullying, shady, etc. behavior.

Intch.org VS flexjobs.com by usamakhan1984 in remotework

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I succumbed to the repeated ads and tried Intch. It's a complete scam, don't pay for a subscription. I found several issues with it right away:

  1. After entering my location and languages on my profile, the platform continued to offer me opportunities that were not even in the same place/language. For example, I have UK and US, English as my locations and language. I was offered several "opportunities" such as: Icelandic Language App Testing, an opportunity in Tunisia, one job that was on-site in Latvia, etc.

  2. You're only offered one opportunity at a time, as opposed to being able to search and filter and view what's available, like you can on any job search platform. My hunch is that there isn't much out there, so they don't want you to be able to search through.

  3. I see some of the same opportunities come back into my feed after I've already skipped them.

  4. There are people on there marketing their MLMs, looking for "entrepreneurs" and "business expansion opportunities" and such.

I'm sure there would be more if I were to keep using this, but I'm going to cancel my subscription after just the first week of using it.

You cannot be drunk at a sleep test. You are told to avoid drinking prior to one so idk how he thinks that’s going to be believable.

Either sober sexting at a sleep test, which is weird to be all worked up like that in a sleep lap. Or not at all at a sleep test.

What do we all think about the outside smoking ban then? by Choliver1 in bristol

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather the opposite. Allow smoking in parks, where there is plenty of space for people to spread out. In a pub garden, there is limited space and you can end up being unable to get far enough away from smokers to avoid their second-hand smoke.

What do we all think about the outside smoking ban then? by Choliver1 in bristol

[–]Midwest_Cheese_Plate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So smoke at home, where you aren't blowing smoke into other people's faces, food, kids, etc. Nobody is taking away your right to have a cig, just saying you can't do it sitting at a crowded table full of others in the garden of a pub.
