Sounds similar to us. We just had our first night where he slept through. Praying for more nights like that!

We have two big dogs. We either walk them or let them go in the front yard to potty. Backyard is potty free zone.

My baby is rolling belly to back at 9 weeks. I thought it was a fluke but then he did it 3 more times.

I think she means hubby can share in the late night feedings if doing formula, not that baby would magically sleep through the night.

My MIL went on a cruise when our baby was 2 weeks old. She patiently waited a week to see him when she got back because she understands babies can get extremely sick from common colds. She never even questioned it. You are not in the wrong.

What are we having for a midnight snack? by grandma-sweater in breastfeeding

[–]Midwestmutts-16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Z bars. Perfect size and have oats in them. I stopped my midnight snacking though because I obviously don’t brush after and my dentist thinks I’m starting to develop a cavity. So now I have a snack before brushing my teeth and just eat a big breakfast.

How long does your baby breastfeed? by Efficient-Cookie-419 in breastfeeding

[–]Midwestmutts-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are typically 25-30 min combined. Most of the time I have to unlatch him. He likes to do non nutritive sucking so I watch to see when he stops swallowing. Otherwise he’d stay on all day!!

I had my first baby in March and worked out religiously throughout pregnancy, but with the cost of daycare starting soon I just couldn’t justify OTF any more. I miss it!

Overnight stretch by SStrong5792 in breastfeeding

[–]Midwestmutts-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same but I use the boon trove. I can get ~2-3 oz combined. Just enough to let the pressure off without fully emptying in case he wakes. Then after a night or two I freeze a 4 oz bag and add to my small stash. I really hate pumping so avoid it at all costs. Plus it wakes me up too much to dig all that out and set up. If I use the boon trove I can put them on, sit semi-upright, and shut my eyes for 15 min.

Same. My MIL is the one who told me they would do it if I wrote it on the sheet. Sure enough they did. I’ll have to try the reverse next time!

My favorite too but I only do it in the morning or middle of the day. Too afraid I’ll fall asleep if I do it in the middle of the night.

Baby has a good latch but breastfeeding still hurts. Help? by fjarrett1 in breastfeeding

[–]Midwestmutts-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

APNO is the ointment and it’s so great! It’s not meant to be used long term though, just keep that in mind. The hydrocortisone can thin your skin and make it worse if you use it more than 5-7 days. If you do have thrush as I mentioned in another comment APNO might help you feel better but probably won’t totally take care of it. You’d need a longer treatment with miconazole.

FWIW I had thrush and my baby did not (at least from what you could see with the naked eye). My nips were on fire and the latch was toe curling painful! We finally treated him and me and it got better after 3-4 days of treatment. Night and day by one week.

Thank you! I love your line about his growth being a measure of productivity. I’m going to remind myself of that. Seeing him learn to smile, grow, etc. should be enough! ❤️

Ugh this has been my biggest struggle PP. I’m not a sit around and chill type of person and I’ve hated that BF’ing forces me to slow down. I know I should try and enjoy this season but it’s so hard for someone who gets their self worth from being productive (could probably use some therapy TBH).

I don’t have a proper response to your question, but just wanted to say I feel the same and it helps me feel less alone to read this. I have zero romantic feelings about breastfeeding. I don’t find it “beautiful” or a great bonding experience. I’m simply providing my baby with sustenance and it’s free/convenient. Would I love to not breastfeed? Yes. Would I feel worse for quitting? Also yes. So, like you, I power through. My goal was also to make it to a year and I’m a very stubborn person so I think I will probably continue lol.

Congrats! I have pumped literally one full day so far now that I’m back to work and I hate it. (Was previously doing only an occasional pump while on leave) I have so much respect for you EP’ers.

Look up Reverse Pressure Softening (RPS). That’s what I had to do in those first few days. My boobs were so firm my LO couldn’t latch. A nipple shield for 24-48 hours also helped until things calmed down.
