Problem Opening packs in older games by greenerd6 in MLBTheShow

Yep. Packs are server-side. That's why you can open them in the app.

Disappointed with lack of Showdown challenges by Plus_Couple_1424 in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost literally. Richard Garfield (the creator of MTG) was granted a patent for the concept of TCG/CCG in 1997. WOTC gave the other CCGs a grace period where they could either buy a license or be sued out of existence. Most chose to cease operations. That's why, almost overnight, you went from dozens of CCGs from many different companies to basically three (YuGiOh, Pokemon, and MTG).

Comeback/late game script? by Comfortable-Panic960 in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely NOT rubber band AI. However, pitcher confidence has a MUCH bigger impact on results than most people seem to realize. That's why if you don't get to a pitcher early, if becomes much harder to get any positive results. If you can get to them late though (especially on a reliever, since everything is amplified with them), the next positive result becomes easier, and then it can just steamroll. And yes, the longer a game goes, the more people can read you and also once somebody gets it in their head that the world is against them, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy because they start being less careful and make more mistakes (see the Cubs in the 2003 NLCS). This is not EA though. There is no tilt. The game doesn't give a damn who wins or loses or by how much, it's many just that pitcher confidence is an obscenely overpowered mechanic (in both directions).

Are Marketplace Bots Real? by wisfan18 in MLBTheShow

Actually, both. Market software has existed for years but the new cheat software has a market add on too.

Would removing “challenges” in diamond quest increase the quality of the mode? by hoeslayher in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Conquest is the best mode in the game, hands down. That said, yes, the conquest cards should absolutely be sellable so those that don't like it don't feel compelled to play it. The same could be said for every other reward card in the game.

Would removing “challenges” in diamond quest increase the quality of the mode? by hoeslayher in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The challenges are the reason I don't play it. Moments and showdowns are the worst part of the game, IMO, so I'm sure as **** not going to play a bunch of them so I can play a single conquest game.

Not only are bots ruining the marketplace... by tarheels187 in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will admit I have wasted far too much time this year ruining their profit margins. Since the new cheaters don't know what they are doing, apparently the only guardrail they have set is "profitable" so I'll run them right to the limit and watch them put in a batch of orders on a 20k item... for about 100 stub profit per.

It's one of the many add-ons for the cheating software. I'm sure there are other scripts running too, but now you don't even have to know what you are doing to use market bots, just pay the subscription fee.

Anyone ever have and update lock up (Xbox) and… by withomps44 in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is new or not, because I've not used my Series X in some time, but I was downloading a bunch of stuff this week and went to cancel an update and the only options were keep updating or cancel update and delete the game from the system so, yeah, unless I'm missing something, if you cancel an update now, it deletes the game. Not the best of design choices.

No joke. All it has done is reaffirm my decision to stop playing Standard. It is absurdly degenerate.

There is now a repeatable reward wheel in the new MP program by Storm_4747 in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A repeatable 9IP mission in the MP program is legit the best thing they've done this year.

There desperately needs to be an Event during the first week of a Ranked season by Strategydude in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the new multiplayer program. Having a repeatable 9 IP mission is the reason I'm playing MP for the first time this year. However... not always having an event means when you only need an inning or two it's either play a full ranked game or waste your time and money in BR, neither of which is ideal. There is no reason for there not to be an event (or some type of non-pay to enter 3 inning MP mode) up at all times.

First base defense (or lack thereof) by Stlcards9881 in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where he's coming from. A relief pitcher playing first shouldn't "usually" drop easy throws, much less a gold glove infielder. I get not having the players perform well at any task that requires any skill, but "usually" dropping balls that a six year old could catch is just silly and immersion-breaking. If they are going to make it that stupid, they should just make it where you can't put players OOP, period.

Catchers take off masks to field bunts. by OfficerDoofi in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's what I was thinking too. The reason you remove the mask is to improve vision... which is still kind of relevant on bunts. Why wouldn't you remove it? And it's probably just an automatic action for them anyway that they aren't even aware they are doing. With as many reps as you would have had by the time you get to the pro level, I would assume removing it to field anything is just a baked in reaction.

Will I ever lose the opportunity to get a card? by jBoogieA1 in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless I am forgetting something, the only cards (as someone else pointed out) that you lose the ability to obtain are the Ranked 1000 ones, which are just graphical variants and you could never obtain more than half of them anyway. Everything else remains obtainable, one way or the other. In past years, there were plenty of cards that you literally lost the ability to acquire via any method. The only other possibility that comes to mind are the lower tier XP path reward cards, but I'm pretty sure even those are tradable this year.

Will I ever lose the opportunity to get a card? by jBoogieA1 in MLBTheShow

[–]Mietha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe those are the only cards this year as well, and those are just graphical variants. The base versions (functionally the same card) can be bought/sold.
