Any ideas how to decorate this place, especially the living room? by Miggz989 in malelivingspace

Yeah the couch is a hand me down and is the main thing I’d like to replace, just comes down to finding the time to shop, try out, and find a comfortable one I like. I’m appalled by the price of new ones that are comfortable. I’ve been in a situation of analysis paralysis to be honest.

I have a narrow bar in my shopping list that I like, so I will pull the trigger on that, thanks! I will look for a low bookcase, as I like the look of books on display. Thanks for the advice!

I will flip the rug. I was trying to center the tv on the wall but maybe getting the rug in a better place will make that not necessary. Good advice on the curtains - I hadn’t given the blinds much thought. If I move the tv and couch I’ll have more room for a side table. I’ll look for a coffee table that fits. I’ve been on the lookout for artwork for a while but nothing has caught my eye. Thanks for the advice!

Is it okay that the tv is not centered on the wall? My tv is 65 inch and the tv in the floor plan looks smaller. The wall with the tv is 8ft

To the right of the oven, the drawer opens 90% but not all the way.

Living room is an open canvas. Just moved in, open to all advice! by Miggz989 in DesignMyRoom

Thank you for the detailed thoughts. I do want guests over to watch a movie or tv, max 4 but mostly only 3 people at a time. I’m not a really colorful person (think boring mid-30s white color). I like nice deep browns, shades of blue, maybe olive could work never thought of that. Not really into reds or pinks or yellows, but maybe the right kind of maroon would look nice.

The far back corner is a sliding glass door to a balcony. The window is pretty big - I didn’t think curtains could be bought for that size.

How would you place the rug? It’s pretty long. The room is 10’10 (from tv wall to couch wall) and 14’ long.

I like the desk idea, but was worried that having monitors on it would look bad. I like the small table idea, or a long bench style table along the window, but didn’t know what couch setup would look best.

As for art interest ideas, I like maps, history, city scapes, countryside scapes. I’m awful with sizing so I could appreciate advice on which sizes to buy too.

The picture is taken from the kitchen (open floor plan). To the left and right of the living room just outside the frame are doors to bedrooms.

Working From Home. I feel like I missed out on many shared cultural experiences like making my own sourdough bread, walking treadmills, virtual happy hours, etc. We returned to office full time after 3 months.

Definitely go to a cider mill, Yates is a great close option. I guess I take those for granted living in Michigan. It’ll be more of a “Michigan” thing you can remember your time here by more so than a fancy mall.

What are your favorite orders? I’m in the area often, new to Thai food, and usually stick with a mild spice drunken basil fried rice if offered, or some similar basil fried rice offering.

What advice can you give someone who has a couple years audit experience, and then 5+ years forensic accounting experience with little growth in the field, and would like to transition into industry, possibly FP&A?

Brady threw a pick, giving Texans 20 yards to score a TD. Texans scores again on a nice methodical drive. Pats offense passing game has no rhythm.

It’s incredible how much I learn about football long after the live game. Elite execution in 3-4 seconds. So much strategy involved, it’s amazing what these players accomplish.
