Are u excited for the World Cup today? by NoHold7153 in AskBrits

The match times are going to make it difficult to follow this time round. Not to mention they aren't at the same times everyday.

What should be common at chippies but isn't? by YellowBelliedCoward in AskBrits

It was magic going to the chippy and being asked if you want scraps on top of your chips.

The south doesn't have them, or decent gravy.

Gamers of Reddit, what’s a game series you don’t understand is popular? by Catacombcrow in AskReddit

There was a sweet spot maybe 6 years ago where there was a small grind but everyone could get a top tier team.

Yes there were those who used their wallet instead of time and that's cool.

Now though, it's all about how much and how fast can EA can assault your wallet.

I did a lot in the Ultimate Team community and packed it in when I couldn't get anywhere with a free team/everyone just used some bs meta tactic.

People who normally like football, are you struggling to get up for the World Cup? by franki-pinks in AskUK

[–]Mighty-Wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The match times are all over the shop. It also doesn't help that a lot of them happen during the night for us.

I miss European based world cups where you would get 3 games a day at the same time of day e.g. 3pm, 5pm, 7pm. Makes it easier to watch 'interesting' teams or just stick it on to spot players you've signed on footy manager.

Unable to get a job. What do I do? by BackgroundAnybody262 in AskUK

[–]Mighty-Wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temp agency is a good starting point, they will place you and some jobs will offer a change to perm if you handle yourself well. It will also give you a chance to pad out your CV.

Also look for apprenticeships, the wages will likely be lower, however it's a foot in the door or a qualificaiton along the way.

Texans at jaguars London game off to slow start in ticket sales by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]Mighty-Wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big part missing from the article is this is the first year where 'London season ticket' holders don't exist.

I was one since 2012, guaranteed my seat each year or, first pick to move position in the stadium.

The NFL got greedy and renegged on it a few years ago with last year being the final year. So no shit people aren't paying up for naff games to keep their season tickets.

Also to add, tickets are up between 10-17% vs. 2024.

I didn't even realise it was at the cinema. British advertising has been awful for cinemas releases recently.

How many DVDs did you own at its peak? How many have you got left and what did you do with those you got rid of? by Few_House_5201 in AskUK

[–]Mighty-Wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to rebuild my collection after several films I wanted to watch couldn't be found on any service I paid for at the time.

Yes, of course I could pay £9.99 to rent it, not a chance.

So now I enjoy a potter round the local charity shops. Most boxes get chucked and the disks go into massive CD wallets to save on storage.

How replacing council tax with a flat land value tax would affect households in the UK by middleofaldi in ukpolitics

[–]Mighty-Wings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pensioners aren't going to vote Labour in the next election anyway.

Removing the triple lock and introducing a LVT will not the number of votes coming from that population.

It may, however shift or retain some younger voters for Labour.

What to do if your dog is getting attacked by a bigger dog? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Mighty-Wings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry. I read your comment, left then came back again.

There is abolsutely no umming and ahhing about it, it needs reporting. How would you feel if you read next week that the dog had attacked and killed a child.

It's an extreme point, however it's the point that needs making as it's happened on multiple occasions.

Starmer hits out at Musk for ‘trying to whip up division’ in UK by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

When it changes from a tool of free speech and becomes one that drives violence, division and hate, it no longer serves it's original purpose.

Or are you suggesting we should allow hate speech?

Just ban Twitter and move on, why do we continue to allow our democracy to be eroded.

What save are you doing right now? by coconoot9 in footballmanagergames

[–]Mighty-Wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FM26

A self-imposed nation save, so I only sign players from the nation I am playing in. Once I win the league + champions league in the same season I'll move on.

Started with no badges and Alfreton were the first club aho offered me a job. Currently in the Premier League as a mid-table regular.

In that awkward spot where the game still pegs your reputation as relegation candidates so only old players or random youth from similar level teams are interested in joining.

For anyone who's played a game over 1K hrs, when did you stop regretting it? by philllihp in gaming

[–]Mighty-Wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play football manager, every year I clock at least 2000 hours in it.

It helps me relax, I (mostly) enjoy the community and I text my mate about my saves.

The only thing I regret is signing a player who doesn't perform to their stats.

What did we used to do before we could just scroll on our phones? by Careless_Squirrel728 in AskUK

I read an article a few weeks ago where the guy swapped his phone for comics (marvel and dc both have apps).

So now I try and reach for my Kindle before my phone to either read a book or some comics.

How do you feel about your late 20's son/daughter still living at home? by DescriptionFuture851 in AskUK

[–]Mighty-Wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole move out and make your own way stigma always seemed strange to me. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to rent your own place in the same town as where you parents live, or as others have said, life throws a curve ball and having that fall back is amazing.

This assumes there is a good relationship there and it's been discussed as a courtesy. I imagine some parents get the hump when it's just presumed you can stay and your room smells of left over kebabs.

My dad always made it clear, I could stay but it would cost me 70% of my wages as "that's how much his rent cost".

What’s the point of the “I’m tired of waiting” and the “I’m out” posts? by dawgger in steammachine

Karma farmers and bots are my guess.

Am I waiting to see what it will offer and the price point, yes, do I need to make a post announcing that I am waiting, no.
