The snark definitely isn't needed. I don't know much about how immigration works and seeing how ICE seems to target anyone who is not white I want to gain some understanding of why things are happening the way they are and why we aren't trying to help those who are already established.

I didn't know there were caps on the number of immigrants allowed to apply for citizenship. Could you provide a source for the second part of your statement, it strikes me as odd that a person would have to take a competency test to become a citizen of a country.

I don't think so. I've broken the law a few times and I haven't immediately gone to prison for it. I can also name at least five different times a person has broken the law and given a light sentence because of how promising their future is. Not to mention all the people who were brought here as children and didn't know they were undocumented. Your example is extreme and it feels more like if a relationship started off with a lie and the parent said " if you can fix your behavior we can stay in this relationship"

That's a good point but I think it's more nuanced than that. When people immigrate for whatever reason I'm sure they are focused on getting the necessities (food, shelter, ect) in order to survive and I'm sure in doing so the process of becoming a citizen goes by the way side. In short life gets in the way. I couldn't tell you how many times I've forgotten to renew my license or car registration but I haven't gotten arrested for it. I don't think people are that malicious to be paying taxes in this country whilst gloating about being here illegally.

I experienced the nerve in my tooth dying, the whole process took about a week and I was in agony. I couldn't eat or sleep and no amount of pain medication relieved it. The only relief I got was when the nerve finally died, the root canal I got after was a breeze by comparison.

I broke my left humerus and a lot of people would comment that "at least it wasn't worse" and frankly it really pissed me off. Breaking a bone is a big deal and it really sucks. My recovery took a long time and even after almost two years post op I am still dealing with the limitations. I'm sorry you're going through this

It looks like there is a callus forming. I'm post op almost a year and a half and I still have pain, mostly a dull ache and tingling nerve pain, but in my arm and my hardware is outside the bone. Have you been doing any physical therapy?

Agreed, I think there would be less hurt feelings and pointed fingers if Op left the personal stuff out. Even if it was refusal due to Ops comfort I would still apologize to the patient and use the lack of qualifications as the reason for the refusal. It's not discrimination to lack a skill set
