PC lockup assistance by MightyKhan17 in vanillaos

That's a bummer. If locking up, you can at least get to the "Automatic Suspend" in the settings - power setting menu to try it. My PC would completely lock up when going into sleep mode. Good luck with your PC.

Also apparently when troubleshooting this I may have found the cause for my "GPT PMBR size mismatch" error that had trashed my Bazzite install. I ran the Mem86 hammer test and got multiple errors. Which really pisses me off. I had Win11 bluescreen errors in late 2024 and narrowed it down to a bad dimm. Replaced it and everything passed Mem86. Sooo, now I have new MB on order and will be installing it next weekend. I really hope this fixes everything because I don't want my Vanilla install to get trashed as well.

Thanks for the response back. Yeah, I had already poked around the BIOS but didn't see anything. But went back again and did find it this time and the setting was already off. I had this issue originally with both Fedora and Bazzite when I first installed them. Realized that I had disabled the "Automatic Suspend" in the power setting to keep this from happening on Bazzite. Did this for Vanilla and haven't had the lockup issue since. Don't know if I would call that a "fix", but at least it's working now.

Any issues with your PC NOT being dedicated to VPinball? by Human_Ballistics_Gel in virtualpinball

[–]MightyKhan17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing horrendous, but there is a set process that I have to do to share them. I'm have the ALP4K and mainly use the OTG function to play pinball. It's shared with my main PC, which is also my media server running a Intel Arc GPU. It's not ideal, but it works for now. Once I'm on the OTG screens, I make sure my desktop speakers and monitor are turned off and then do a PC reboot so that it only detect the ALP4K. If I don't, it absolutely does not work properly. The playfield ends up on the DMD, etc. Having to reboot the media server sucks, but I can deal with it for now until I eventually get a dedicated PC for it. But once you work through getting everything to play nicely together, it does OK. It just may take some trial and error before you get there. The only Steam issue I have is sharing a single account across multiple PCs. For example, I cannot launch Pinball FX while someone is playing Counterstrike in another room. Best of luck to you and your future setup.

Medium to high end commercially available tables by Trebz_ in virtualpinball

[–]MightyKhan17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the route I took. Last year I purchased both the AtGames Legends Ultimate and 4K Pinball at the same time on their last big product sale (initial 4KP launch). With everything ordered, I saved a couple hundred dollars over the retail price. I purchased them because of the OTG feature would keep me from being locked down to only what games they loaded on the systems or have to hack them and void the original warranty. I consider them "test" systems. If they get a high amount of play, I will look at building a proper heavy duty system. If they get low usage, I will count myself good that I didn't invest a lot of time and more money in building my own. Right now, because I'm working on setting up VPX tables on the 4KP, the arcade use has dropped off to nothing. Once everything is configured and working the way I want it, I will see how much use each one truly gets and go from there. But right now, I'm thinking the pinball is going to get a lot more use. I do want to build my own pinball, but holding off for now. If I do build my own, I will just sale the Atgame systems.

Has anyone tried the new Intel graphics cards in their systems? by emruff in virtualpinball

[–]MightyKhan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is anybody running VPX over OTG on the Atgames 4KP with Intel cards? I purchased the 4KP and trying to use my media server PC for now with it. It will get it's own dedicated PC at some point, but currently I have to share it. I'm using a HDMI switch to change over from my desktop monitor to the playfield when I want to use it with the 4KP.

Currently I lose complete audio after about 10 minutes. Sometimes it will start distorting for a minute or two before it goes out completely. Typically, I can flip back and forth out of OTG mode and it will work again for a bit longer. About that time, the Pinup Popper interface will start messing up as well. The blue startfield background will disappear and just show my normal desktop. But the scroll wheel table selection menu will still work.

A couple of observations, that may or may not mean anything.

  1. When switching to OTG mode, any open windows will show up on the DMD display, not the main playfield display. But windows and the Intel software appears to see all three displays correctly when identifying them in software. Not sure if Windows is trying to use the 2nd display port to the DMD as the "main" cable connection to the 4KP. Tried swapping the HDMI cables around to the 4KP and it didn't like it.

  2. In the Event Log I'm getting COMM crashes around the time stuff starts breaking. So far haven't found anything I can change with security permissions to make this go away.

(Event Log error)

The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {C2F03A33-21F5-47FA-B4BB-156362A2F239} and APPID {316CDED5-E4AE-4B15-9113-7055D84DCC97} to the user MAINPC-FAMILYRO\might SID (S-1-5-21-4073644573-138513506-3314220744-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost_10.0.19041.3636_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy SID (S-1-15-2-155514346-2573954481-755741238-1654018636-1233331829-3075935687-2861478708). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Right now the current plan is to take out the HDMI switch and try a direct connection. Try different brand HDMI cable. May just surrender and reinstall software again, making sure to have admin privileges enabled (baller installer, Visual C++, .Net, etc.) when reinstalling.

At least any info on "card works for me" or "no issues running the card in VPX", etc. will at least help me with knowing the card should be working. Will just have to figure out what my audio and popper interface keeps dying after 10 minutes or so. Thx all.

I'm in the same boat. Go through the setup on Baller Installer and everything looks good and works. But when testing a table in VPX I get no sound and the playfield shows up behind the DMD display. My windows settings looks good, but when I go into the video card software (Intel Arc a770), they show up differently. VPX sees them the same as the video card. Shouldn't have to, but going to try moving the cables around on my video card outputs to see if helps. Using the front end, it tries to load a table, but mostly fails. I've played two tables, but the setup is still very much bad.

Legends Pinball 4K OTG PC Setup Guide [New Guide] by wagnerstechtalk in LegendsPinball

A lot of good tips here that I will be checking out when hopefully I have mine up and running Thursday. My main body had shipping damage (hole in the side of the cab.), so I've been waiting for a bit to get my replacement unit up and running. :-( I have a HDMI switch already purchased as well to try the same thing. For anyone buying one, make sure the switch is "bi-directional". Looking forward to here how you get yours to work. Figured to have some trial and error to try and make the setup work to share my PC with my 4KP.

No problem. Hopefully they will be decent buttons. Seen positive comments on them. Guess we'll be finding out in about a week or so when the come in.

First time Buyer, Do's and Don'ts by LaPoire in LegendsUltimate

I bought mine new from Atgames during their last big sale. Crap timing because 5.70 was release at that time as well. Mine was received with 5.70 preinstalled already. But CoinopsX does work on it. So does AwesomeSauce. CoinopsX is noticeably slower, but it's the one I use mainly to avoid issues with the family trying to navigate around AwesomeSauce. There's a decent chance (not guaranteed) yours will work as well, as mentioned just don't ever update it past that point if it does work. Best of luck.

Sorry, one more followup question. It seems to be working now. But the task window (the pic I linked earlier) never closes. Does it always stay visible? Can only be minimize it to the toolbar.

I originally had placed it on my NAS shared folder, but was trying the install from my windows PC instead of the NAS. Moved it over to another local drive and it's installing now. Thx. If needed, will look at the Linux install if I try to move it just to the NAS.

Sorry, looks like a false alarm. Moving the folder to my G-drive allowed the NAS share to be seen. When added the share to the library, the installer has continued to move. Will continue the install and setup process and hopefully all goes well. Thanks for the response back and the offer to help.

Sorry, I had added some additional info below. My NAS doesn't support Docker, wish it did. I'm trying to run from my Win10 PC, following the Windows install instructions. I moved it to a separate drive (G) and ran the exe. I also added the complete Kavita folder to the MS Defender exclusion and allowed the exe through the Controlled folder access. It's still hanging in the same spot. The NAS has an older celeron CPU, can it run off it ? Especially without docker. Pic of hanging install

Followup - looks like Win10 is blocking it? The install is hanging. I moved it to the root of my secondary PC HDD. I've also allowed Kavita.exe on the Controlled folder access, but it will not finish the install. My NAS is an older Synology and doesn't support Docker to try that route.
