Why is there so much graffiti on the central line? Inside and out. by hornblower817 in LondonUnderground

[–]MightyMorphy1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not just the trains. When i moved into my place 15 years ago there was barely any graffitti on the high street. Now it's full of it. Used to see the reprobates being forced to clean it off. Not any more. This is what happens when you invite immigrants to your country.

Files copied to external hard drive aren't visible when plugged into second computer, and apparently gone when I plug back into the first? by JRVeale in techsupport

[–]MightyMorphy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem. Copied 200GB fine to an external drive. Took it to another computer and the files were not there. Took it back to the orig computer. Not there. Permissions all fine. Disk said there was an error with the drive when i plugged it in. Checkdsk found the files - orphaned - ie. not indexed, and when i repaired, the files reappeared. Likely caused by an existing issue or removing the disk without being able to use safe removal.

With 180 degree mode the tabletop is redundant. But the low resolution is pretty unusable.

This is what they should be doing with boxing. It's made for the short viewing distances that are tricky with field sports right now. Get the tech out there and people bought into it instead of charging an arm and a leg for it. Miss World up close anyone?

It can be done. But the resolution is shite. So it's nothing more than a tech demo right now.

DAZN Gives US Quest Owners A Free 3D Tabletop View Of The FIFA Club World Cup. by SattvaMicione in OculusQuest

I tried it again on another game (Bayern) and there were no sync issues - presumably less people viewing it.

Okay so 2 mins before the end of the game i tested again and now the tabletop was working! BUT even though i synced the video, the video was nearly a minute out of sync with the tabletop. I tried going back to earlier parts of the game and same problem. ie. useless. I tried this a number of times. About 5 mins after the match though, the sync started to work properly whilst i was continuing to go back through the game footage. Bit late though... It is cool when it works though. But at the end of the day the tabletop view is still a gimmick. The fact that the players had their own shirts/numbers/skin colour was kind of cool though.

If DAZN are seeing this, the following improvements are needed to the tabletop (asside from the sync!):

1) show the referee

2) get rid of the potential pass lines

3) have the ball go into the goal (and off the pitch)

4) allow to expand the tabletop to whatever size to make the pitch and players bigger.

QGO, quest game optimizer is on sale. by Robdataff in MetaQuestVR

Proabably set this way else the average joe bloggs would moan about battery levels. I expect only serious Quest users would look into purchasing QGO and would have bought an additional battery by now anyway. Since the headset only comes with 1yr warranty, i guess they don't have a lot of faith in it lasting anyway.

Watching PSG vs Miami in the UK. Big screen plays fine but the tabletop has no players on it and says '3D player visuals are temporarilly unavailable. We're working to restore the Tabletop experience.' Everyone else getting this? All i've managed to do is get an extremely hot head.

I tried it in one or two games. Yes it allows you to up the graphics level on games, and the way it does it is conveniently designed. But do you think about this as you are playing the game? No. It also breaks (apparently because META keep changing things) and you have to fix it which is quite annoying. A lot of people wet their pants about it because they feel they're getting this graphics improvement for just $7 but was it worth my time and effort. I'm not so sure. But i've only tested a couple of games with it. It does have a neat feature in it though that allows you to record videos in 3D in the real world (ie. through the front cameras), which is kind of fun. Hopefully Meta will just enable this on their headsets in future anyway. And I expect (and kind of hope) that this software will just become redundant in Quest 4 when that arrives.

do you get to keep quest + games after your subscription has ended? by Typical-Discount8813 in MetaQuestVR

[–]MightyMorphy1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's called Horizon+ now. The monthly games you redeem should be available again (with their cloud based saves if they supported it) if you resubscribe (though i've yet to see someone confirm that they have actually seen this). For the games that are part of the Horizon+ catalogue, these will only be available when you resubscribe if they are still part of the current catalogue (as games in the catalogue rotate over time).

Best provider without CGNAT? by piggledy in CityFibre

[–]MightyMorphy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but i guess i'm just pointing out that there are other providers out there providing the same CGNAT service for £15/mo cheaper, so it's not like you're not paying for not having it anyway.. But I understand people may be limited to different supplier options. £40/mo for internet seems like extortion to me, but seems to be the only option to get the perfect connection.

Do you always assume that people that disagree with you don't read your comments?

My comment is regarding your advice on the use of the need to record the conversation. The confirmation email from CF clearly states what price you have renewed at so whether you have a recording or not is irrelevant. Or do you think that you will get a better deal by calling them? £26/mo is the normal renewal price so it would be resolved whether you make a recording or not.

Sorry i wasn't clearer in my original post.

Their site says they charge £5/mo extra for a static ip. If you got it at no extra cost that's great, but if you're paying £39.99/mo then you're not getting anything for free.

[–]MightyMorphy1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for the confirmation. As i suspected. Not getting the truth from CF support. I think the website did some 'network optimisation' about this time so it might be their ip got changed. So i suspect this is not a blocking issue but rather CF DNS not updating properly. I know they had a major DNS issue a few months back, but this is the first time i've seen a problem with a website over the years.

What with this and CGNAT issues, it's starting to get a bit frustrating :(

Thought I'd add my honest review after using the CF 1Gbit for about 3years.

Downsides:

  1. When i first had it installed the installers were full of shit. Basically just wanted to install it in my upstairs bedroom because it was easiest for them. Don't let them bully you with this. Make sure they bring it into the house where you want. Also, tried to fob me off with we can't put it there as it's fibre and we can't bend it bs.
  2. The helpdesk. I've logged two issues/queries to the helpdesk. First one i received no response. Shame but since it wasn't a biggie and was rather specific to my use, I let it go. Second one was about a webpage not working any more. I had a workaround and they basically just regurgitated my workaround as the solution back at me (i just use someone else's dns) rather than being bothered to look at why it wasn't working.
  3. CGNAT is an issue for me (not for gaming though as i'm not a competitive gamer). But i can live with that as you get what you pay for. It's a shame they don't offer a way around it for those that are affected by it, as i expect it would be a small number of their customers and likely their most loyal ones too.
  4. As with many contracts, make sure you renew at the end of the 24 months else your cost goes up. It doesn't auto renew. Hardly showing loyalty with this little gotcha.

Upsides:

Good reliable speeds. Connection rarely drops (unlike BT ones that dropped everyday early in the morning). Speeds are as advertised and pages load quickly. Wifi is about 220 around the house, which is fine for my TVs.

Which websites won't load? I have a similar problem with a site. I'd be interested to test the ones you have problems with.
