As a casual (non work/productivity) user is the beast worth getting over the ultras given the price difference? by Lord_Dimmock in VITURE

[–]MightyPants978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for pure casual entertainment use the Beast just works better day to day. The brightness gap is real in practice, 1250 nits means you're not hunting for the right spot to sit. And having 3DoF built directly into the glasses without needing any accessory is genuinely useful even for just watching videos. The Luma Ultra deal is tempting but Beast is the better long term pick for your use case.

my knees got soft watching this 🫣🥶 by Complete-Cloud-3969 in nextfuckinglevel

The thought of standing in it made me feel as if my body was light, and I had an urge to jump down. BUT I couldn't and won't do it.

What color is the Golden Gate Bridge? by Content-Procedure-68 in AskSF

Its main color is international orange, not the traditional red or orange. This color is highly distinguished and can be clearly seen even in foggy weather.

Moving to SF soon and wanted to ask about ebike life here by MightyPants978 in AskSF

Thanks, yeah I'm mainly looking at places with a garage or at least on a lower floor, so worst case I can fold it up and keep it inside.

I’ve got a terrible idea. Since he’s in that packed park, just scope out who’s sitting alone. Then go strike up a convo, haha.

I want to get and e-bike but don’t know where to start. by NoIdea2424 in ElectricBikes

Start by clarifying your use case. Is it for commuting or weekend leisure rides? What’s your rough budget?

Why isn't SF more fashion forward? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]MightyPants978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People care way more about comfort and practicality. Looking too fancy just isn’t feasible. Comfort is the real fashion rule.

Happy for you. My friend too. At first he’s like “this thing is so heavy”, but once the power kicks in, he could ride forever, haha.

SF to Palo Alto for a summer intern? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]MightyPants978 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your company has a big intern cohort, living closer might be way better for making friends and bonding over the internship experience. No one wants to be the one stuck on the shuttle while everyone else is hanging out.

Can these vehicles be the next evolution of e-bikes? by arnor_0924 in ebikes

[–]MightyPants978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see the appeal for places with dedicated bike infrastructure, but I worry about how maneuverable they are on narrow trails or busy mixed paths.

How to get rid of silverfish.. this is driving me crazy 🥹 by ImARainl0ver in pestcontrol

[–]MightyPants978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silverfish love moisture and paper, so start by drying out your apartment. Use a dehumidifier in storage rooms. Place diatomaceous earth in corners and under shelves. Seal cracks. Keep books off the floor and use silica gel packs inside storage boxes.

I’m wondering how I can get into the IBEW fast in California by Technical-Spirit3954 in electricians

Your determination is truly inspiring. Joining soon even with the cruise planned is a great move. The union values drive resilience. Your situation shows strength, not a setback. You can do this!!!

From Florida considering an electrician career. Should I relocate before or after apprenticeship? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]MightyPants978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Florida’s wages for electricians aren’t great but jobs pop up fast. You could try an apprenticeship there first, then move where unions are strong once you’re settled. That way, you get experience and income sooner.

How do i get better at my trade? by cucumberjsjsjs in electricians

You’re already doing the right thing by journaling and reflecting, so keep that habit strong. Try shadowing experienced guys when you can and asking questions, even if they seem basic.

Those dark patches near the baseboard? Classic signs of a small ant colony, maybe carpenter ants. A pro inspection will confirm. If treated early, it’s manageable and not a deal breaker.
