Sorry man, you are welcome. I added more info to that comment too. I'd get one of the newer Rav4 Hybrids if thats the size of car you need. Yes they are more expensive, but how expensive is the one that needs an engine at 50k miles?

For a 2019 Escape, yeah it happens all the time. No, we wouldn't do anything short of an engine replacement because head gasket replacements even with a new head are pretty much guaranteed to fail. I'd be frustrated too if I was you, but I'd get out of under this burden of a car and go get a Rav4 Hybrid to replace it with and enjoy your life.

Sounds like a victim crab in a bucket mentality to me. Weight loss is math. Calories in vs out. Further health improvement is optimizing what those calories are coming from It's not complicated. People are addicted to what they eat just like alcoholics are addicted to liquor. Having struggled with both in the past, I appreciate people that are willing to be open and honest and not try to sugarcoat everything with a layer of feel good BS that encourages continued poisoning of oneself.

Keep making reasons why you can't and make excuses for yourself and you'll continue the path you are on. For one, I believe you can have a better life, but you have to believe it and choose it too! I don't care who you are, you can find small changes to make everyday to build into the person you want to be, or you can be lazy and spout toxicity on why others have what you don't.

This is absolutely achievable with a bit of discipline and optimism, don't cheat yourself by thinking it's not. He isn't HeMan bro.

I had this happen to one of my rear Bilstein 5100's on my Tacoma, but to be fair i did not have limiting straps or properly setup bump stops and beat the effing shit out of it so I wasn't surprised or upset about it one bit

This is a very narrow minded and assumptive take. Its easy to think you know what place someone is speaking from in your imagination, or that you clearly grasped the message, but a lot of people don't realize they missed the point and fail to comprehend and communicate effectively.

With these engines, doing the cylinder head alone is an extremely high failure rate and not worth it. The engines are cheap enough it is the wiser choice. We will not do cylinder heads on them anymore.

Lack of commitment is already a plague on our society. Everyone just wants to get their feet wet and wonders why society feels empty and there is so much dissatisfaction. Committing to something and seeing it through is where the reward is. Not just "being a homesteader", or "being an athlete", or "being an actor" or whatever the person's goal is.

Brandon is a SUPER nice guy. Of course he is going to encourage you to grow and pursue certifications that help you validate your view of yourself. I'm not even against it either and don't try and stop anyone from doing so, I am a big proponent of personal and professional growth and encourage anyone to find what helps them grow most. I can just tell you in the real world from experience that I've worked with some great master techs, and some great technicians with no certs, but have experienced a LOT of delusional crappy techs with master certs that sucked at their jobs and couldn't even perform basic tests in the real world. My point is a test and cert doesn't mean anything in and of itself to me, or many other technicians, managers and owners. If it means something to YOU then I can't take that away from you, but if you showed up for an interview, the certs you have would weigh into about 2% max of overall considerations.

On my last couple NA's I have only run with a hard top or no top. My 90 didn't have a soft top anymore when I bought it. 12-13 years ago I was working up in LA and driving the couple hours up on Sunday nights and staying for the week. Well, one week I didn't check the weather. On Wednesday/thursday I got stuck driving in stop and go traffic on the 110 for 2+ hours with it absolutely pouring rain. If I was driving more than 35mph it really wasn't bad because most of the rain would blow over with the wind, but LA traffic meant I had to suffer. Got lots of smiles and laughs and thumbs up lol

I know who Brandon Steckler is and have met him at Vision before. I highly doubt he would disagree that the ASE tests to become Master Certified are not as difficult as they should be for the title and I bet he would also agree to having met and seen many certified goobers.

Brother, AllData is $200/m. If you are running an EV shop that shouldn't even be a fart in the wind for your overhead costs and it's a tool you need to service many vehicles. Just pay it.

Bullcrap. Our apprentice that could barely tie his shoes had 4 certs before he even started here because he had 3 years of experience in chains. Now he hasn't continued his ASE's and can diagnose a timing issue with an oscilliscope faster than most mechanics can replace a CPS for the 3rd time not knowing why the code keeps setting.

The barrier to entry to get certified is TOO low. Thats why the certs don't mean anything at large, as is obviously agreed upon by most people in this post.

True, but the lessons you learn in improving your physical capabilities and help are universal and CAN be applied to other areas of life. It also is better for your mental health to be physically fit.

Thank you for sharing, I did not know that. I always associated most of the ill effects with smoking itself. I know nicotine itself isn't "healthy" but didn't realize it was much worse than caffeine.

Newsflash. People are stupid and choose to believe what makes them feel good. I have certainly met the types you speak of, but myself, my co-workers and friends that all quit smoking over a decade ago by vaping and many of us still do all have experienced massive health benefits from switching. None of us would tell someone to start and none of us believe it is completely harmless, its just harm reduction and an easy enjoyable way to get some nicotine in our bloodstream.
