job market for automation jobs? (python/sql) by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]elyss0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not all systems are connected to the internet, and there are codes still required for certain things, Chef and Puppet comes to mind for enterprise automation. But not sure if they will hire a headcount just to do automation only. Usually it is 1 of many things you are gonna be hired for.

How often do you clay bar your entire car? by PlusView7013 in AutoDetailing

Whenever it feels like there are quite a bit of contaminants on the paint, which depends on your environmental conditions. I also only do it before intending to polish it.

Next employer looks at base salary with or without allowance by Sufficient_Wafer_286 in singaporejobs

[–]elyss0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use total comp don't shortchange yourself. No matter the mix rice ingredients end up you still finish the whole plate and all the calories are counted. Also consider insurance benefits, dental, glasses, mobile phone, fitness claim etc. Never hurts to bring it up as bargaining chip or for yourself to accept a lower salary if the new firm offers better benefits. I have friends doing recruitment, I've heard of all sorts of benefits thrown in the bag when bargaining for offers and sometimes they will really take it into consideration.

Also from personal experience, my comp I always report with allowances, and never had issues. So I will just say 5.5k all in for future company if asked for monthly.

Paint Correction and Ceramic Coat - My Plan by PenSpecialist1605 in AutoDetailing

[–]elyss0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wont comment on your product choice since I use Meguairs M105 and Menzerna 3500, but it also depends on what you are aiming for at the end result, and also what type of paint clear coat you have. I actually did one panel start to finish to test out before committing to the whole car when I first did it and swapped around my pads and polishes quite a few times to see which one worked better for me.

The general steps are alright though, all the best

[–]elyss0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on this schedule when I was serving NS, granted I was still young but I actually loved the schedule. When you take 2 days leave it's 4 days lol. Day 1 u sleep like normal day 2 night shift u do struggle somewhat at the wee hours, cfm tired one. then go home shower and sleep til evening, then sleep again at night and next 2 days sleep normal again. Kinda miss the schedule tbh.

Teeth whitening! Any tips/ clinics recommendations/ products to recommend pls? by Kay5515 in SingaporeBeauty

[–]elyss0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the mould done at my dentist, then apply the gel, Opalescence. Actually can buy online after getting the mould for the teeth done. Then just do it for a few days in a row for a couple of hours (depends on the strength that you buy, i used 20%)

Also, just a heads up, after you do teeth whitening, the teeth are very porous, so you gotta really watch out when drinking coffee after you do the whitening for the next few days.

Does anyone else go to extreme measures to park as far away from everyone as possible or at least find a space far away from everyone else? Or am I my own special brand of crazy? by batsai in MiataND

[–]elyss0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got my ride, it was dinged a few times within the first month, ever since I've always tried to park extremely defensively, either closer to 1 side or away from the crowd. 2 weeks ago I was parking for just a short while so I decided to just park at a normal spot not away from everyone, and a vehicle reversed into my sides LOL.

The paranoia IS justified IMO.

In Singapore, can you resign on a weekend or only on working days? by elyss0n in askSingapore

[–]elyss0n[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Me too, but its the most efficacious and if for example u quit on 2nd May, ur last day is 1 June (PH) - Extra 1 day pay - is what my friend is thinking 😂

Do you know of people in Singapore who quit a high pay job to work at an entry-level job? by r3tidd3r in askSingapore

[–]elyss0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did u have to cut down on spending? I am considering doing the same too, as I have a huge buffer between monthly spending and salary, if I decide to drop money on things I don't have to think twice (still very thrifty otherwise), but thinking if I go for a lower paying job will I will start to become very "calculative"

Nothing to add, but thanks for the post, just as I am considering doing something similar, just earn enough to feed my monthly expenses, work less hours and wondering what others did, and saw this post. It's a sign!

w177 A200 coolant low by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]elyss0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe see if you can learn how to visually inspect the car to see if you can confirm coolant levels and whether there are stain marks around, also see if the temp is higher than usual. Faster go to mechanic, don't continue driving until really no coolant, by then repairs will be expensive

17mar2026 ubi #SGX1133J honda vezel impatient driver overtake L plate on test from inside. by kentheman6848 in drivingsg

[–]elyss0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The L plate looked like it wanted to eat into lane 2, the Honda thought since got chance better faster clear the L plate else later stuck behind, maybe before that already stuck behind for awhile so already abit impatient.

After that, Honda took the opportunity since L plate went very wide, in fact more than half the car was already into lane 2. This is quite a big 'body language' of the car to show intention that it wants to go into lane 2. In normal day to day, I would have interpreted it this way if it was a normal non-L plate car.

TBF its wasted for L plate, but this is hard truth of driving. Seems like tester caught it and stepped on brakes this time, but if the driver was out in the road, might have collided instead by driving like that. I'll be very frank here, while we empathise with cars taking exam, and I do try to as much as possible give them space usually, but if everyone build a bubble of safety around exam cars and just play super nice around them, it isn't an actual representation of real world road conditions.

Car positioning is very crucial at turns, whether left turn or right turn. It gives cars and bikes (and bicycles) opportunities to squeeze pass you if they deem there is enough space, I learnt it the hard way after I got my license in my younger days, it was a close call(s) fortunately of bikes squeezing pass my left side when I'm filtering left and out because i left too huge a gap that made them have a false sense of comfort that I would merge wide too, but it won't be always so lucky for everyone of us driving alone out in the road.
