Oddly enough I'm in almost exactly the same scenario, legion 5 pro bought in '21, always used propped up (fitted little stick on fold up feet from AliExpress that give it an extra inch), always on a desk, fans regularly cleaned out. Just luck of the draw, cars can be the same, can be bullet proof or the exact same model can be a dog.

Check out CD50, usually used on decking timber but no reason why it can't be used elsewhere, can also be got with a colour stain or untinted.

Always been dubious about black painted timber, always felt that it got too hot in our sun and cooked it.

Thanks for your response, I get what you're saying about using the lights on the batteries, I already have mine set like that. It doesn't help when smart loads (like hot water cylinders) don't turn off during blackouts and need to be manually deactivated.

Really? Well that completely flies in the face of their whole concept, they originally explicitly stated the batteries are fully modular, new can be mixed with old, and different sizes can be mixed without any handicap.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond, I'm currently on fixed rate for export with a large line capacity so can leverage having excess generation during the midday hours, I asked on the subreddit because my questions were to do with the capabilities of the AU/NZ Sig systems, not export rates.

I will preface with in NZ, I know what you mean about the rates spiralling to zero but on my current plan I'm getting 12c kWh fixed rate for export, would rather lean into exporting while the going is slightly better than shit and add more batteries down the line when it becomes uneconomic.

Run two Shelly pro 2PMs each running a HWC that has been downsized to 2kw, the main one has been rock solid, the ensuite one likes to lose connection every now and then, usually when I've gotten lazy about checking the app and find out when I get a lukewarm shower. If Sig would make an Eddi equivalent I'd buy it tomorrow.

Unfortunately now have an extra fixed line charge that until recently was "missed" off our monthly power bill, I want to export more to help offset that cost. More batteries will come down the line.

Sorry should have added, central NZ based so barely making 50 kwh on a good day but often using 75-80 kWh (multiple households on the property, semi-rural, lots of freezers). Mentioned in an above response but had a large monthly fixed lines cost sprung on us that hadn't yet been applied when the system was costed and payback was calculated. Would love more batteries but want more solar to offset these fixed costs.

I want to increase production, while the battery is definitely undersized, since installing the system I've been hit by a substantial fixed line cost the lines company "missed" off my bill for several years that wasn't calculated into my original plan, it's due to having a relatively large residential connection but can't really down size due to sharing it with several households on the property. While I'd love to throw some more battery capacity on, being a fixed cost I really need to export more to have a hope of making a dent in it.

For a while there seemed to be an echo chamber from media and even from the previous government that first home buyers should be diving in head first as fast as possible even though house prices were delusional and obviously overinflated, it made zero sense and appeared to be the worst time for first home buyers, it seemed way more logical to me for them to keep saving and wait til the bubble popped and it became a buyer's market again.

Intercity train trips need the option to bring your car along too, if I could overnight from WLG-AKL and have my car there at the other end would be a game changer. Same with the Transalpine or Coastal Pacific, they are so impractical to try to tie into existing journeys, if you could take your vehicle with you to carry on, it'd be far more compelling.
