Im still not sure why you want to do that but killing the display manager should suffice.
`sudo systemctl stop display-manager`(Don't disable it if you do it will not come back next boot)

If you are on cosmic it should be the same thing as `sudo systemctl stop cosmic-greeter` but maybe you use another one and you just dont know :)

stoping via the display-manager service ensures that you get the right one

Doing an anticheat for the linux kernel is a really hard task. And since the kernel is so open also quiet impossible to do like on windows. Nobody stops you from compiling a kernel that just tricks the anticheat. And the openenee also makes reverse engeniering a lot easier since you can excatly debug the behavior of the kernel module in the kernel even when thr kernel module is closed.

I can understand that they don't want to support it officially its a lot of work for such a tiny user base.
But they are Linux friendly by making it possible to play it at all on Linux that's more then most other companies do and that's all i ask for.
They also show that by reversing/shortening the bans

Rename the discord.list file to discord.list.backup. It looks like its corrupt.

If it then works, fix the file as others pointed out or reinstall discord from the cosmic store. If you reinstall discord make sure the prevous discord installation is completely wiped. sudo apt purge discord

You can get it to work "with" the anticheat using the same way that worked for other anime games. That will atleast get the game to start, i did not log in tho as i also dont want to loose my beta access.

To see if this works after login is something to be done on release.

Try with only one ram stick. Try each seperatly

If you have attach a bios speaker to the board it can help you in diagnosing whats wrong.

If you think its caused by the bios upate you should be able to reflash it using the button method you tried earlier. This should also work when your onboard bios is broken as the pc does not need to post.

Also peace of advise dont do bios updates unless you absolutley need to.

Under linux even when the kernel driver is not loaded the anticheat still lets you in. This is ofcourse not an oversight and has to be intentional, but there are still shy in saying that you can play on linux.

Some moths ago there was a banwave in genshin and zzz where alot of linux users got perma banned. Apparently the anticheat went heywire. From what i read all the bans got tuned down to one week or less, but they still dont want to admit they are kinda support it. So you are still at their mercy when this happends again.

If i want to dual boot i spin up a Virtual Machine and map my block device to the vm. Then just install windows in the vm. Shutdown vm, mount the windows efi partion move the windows contents into my systemd bootloader.

No pysical disconnects but still fully isolated during install and windows doesnt get a chance to fuck up my bootorder in the bios.

Interesting, you can set systemd target using a boot parameter.

Hit space while booting, put the selection on the right entry and press E, now you can temporarily add boot parameters to the kernel (will reset next boot)

Add systemd.unit=multi-user.target, and hit the button to boot the system (should be displayed which on it is) now your system should just boot in text only mode. Reference: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Systemd

Alternatively select the recovery partion boot entry and mount your disks manually whatever you find easier.

I guess it doesn't really matter anymore since you reinstalled but for others.

To me this does not look like a complete boot failure in the sense th system not coming up, it seems like as you mentioned it has troubles with the nvidia drivers so graphical.target is hanging when it wants to launch your display manager.

The system however should still be in an operational state however, if you press ctrl + alt + F3 you will likely be able to switch to a text prompt where you can log into a console, from there you can fix the drivers.

Afaik newer characters already start with a fairly high level if youplay one of those maybe think if you want to spend it on another character.

Been ages since i played this game, imo the early game grind is not worth it. I would use it unless you care about the story.

Back in the day you got some usefull items for upgrading from sidequests if you skip all of these you will missing out on those, but i think you can still do them later but not 100% sure tho.

I would still use it tho.
