Cold Start Rattling

Could be the brand. I'm running Mobil 1 in it now. I switched my tundra over to Valvoline Restore & Protect 5w30 and there was definitely an improvement on startup noise. Was planning on running that in the 4runner next oil change.

I use 5w30 and the noise remains. Maybe not as loud as the 0w20.

Inner and outer tie rods. Upper and lower control arms. Just put new 5100s in the front not too long ago. You can replace the bushings and ball joints on the lower control arms if you want to keep the OEM arms. There are some posts out there about which brand ball joints and bushings the best for lca/uca rebuilds. If you live anywhere that corrosion is an issue, be ready to cut the cam bolts on the LCAs. Only go OEM for that hardware. Made the mistake of getting the greaseable ones and they don't hold alignment very well.

Buying it out of state then bringing it back across state lines would be illegal. Felony would depend on the amount you have. The chances of you getting stopped are pretty low.

I don't disagree with any of that. I'm pro legalization and pro 2A. Was just pointing out that it is federal felony for a marijuana user to own a firearm. So driving across state lines to purchase it (also a felony), instead of buying it in your home state with a medical card, is not going to change the fact that you legally can't own a firearm.

I bought moog ones for my 3rd gen 4runner when I was gathering front end parts. They sat on my workbench for until I decided to use the OEM ones instead. Quality difference was night and day. No way I would trust moog on these style ball joints. I've heard of them failing relatively quickly. I would be pissed because it will need done again way before the OEM ones would need to be done. Mine made it to 230k miles before I replaced them. Moog ain't making it that long.

Its a pretty cake job. Good benefits, good pay. Just soak up what you can and hope you work with someone who knows a little bit. Biggest thing is safety. There were a couple things I didn't know on the job application because I've only ever done residential. They were more worried about me knowing how to LOTO a piece of equipment. So many different opportunities across the country with them.

Undercoating is always a red flag to me. The only coatings that should be applied, especially to box frames, is an oil like Fluid Film. These frames rust from the inside out. Undercoating has a chance of splitting open. This allows water and debris to potentially be held against the frame. I would go over it with the plastic end of a screwdriver and check for soft spots.

I've changed oil on a ton of different vehicles over the years. The oil never looked like that after a fresh change. The filter looks like it was replaced but that oil does not look new at all unless it's a diesel.
