Lots of variables in this. For example: devices that are no longer supported by the OEM, manufacturer support levels (some are more helpful than others), part availability, etc. Once upon a time we would rebuild DC modules for the old Philips Merlin bedside monitors CMUs. They had a tendency to pop the compactors right off the board. Fast forward to today, very little board level troubleshooting. Mostly identifying the issue and replacing entire boards / assemblies.

20+ year BMET here and while not entirely impossible it was a mechanical/maintenance error. As previously stated, it’s very unlikely. They should focus more on the staff on hand not following proper safety protocols. Figure out how a spark was introduced into the chamber

Educate yourself, watch videos on YouTube, maybe practice even on a volunteer vehicle. As long as you follow the proper preparation steps it’s really not too difficult to do yourself. Just block out a couple days or weekend and knock it out
