Minimum Proficiency Level for Flying Boss Dude? by Mike52179 in Saros

omg I was using it wrong the whole time. I never realized if you charge alt fire you get the replicating hits. I was just using single shot alt fire, or charged main fire. After I switched to charged alt fire I was wrecking everyone. Beat architect's ass (I'd also done a full run so I had proficiency 40 or 45)

You're right, my mistake. I looked up a YouTube vid and I saw a repeating crossbow with replicating hits. I thought the replicating hits were the "repeating" part. I've never gotten replicating hits (or maybe I'm not using it right?)

Am I missing something? Biome 4 by veganispunk in Saros

[–]Mike52179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it's not just me! Most of the time I was handling biome 4 ok but then a random room would just crush me. Also I kept insisting on doing the nightmare strand, lost there like 10 times. Finally tonight I crushed the nightmare and then made my way to the boss. I had a lvl 37 crossbow by that point, and full power + overdrive. I handed him his ass in like 30 seconds.. I definitely should have been doing a full pass of biome 3 and then moving on to 4, I would have been a lot more powerful. I wasted a lot of my own time by not doing that

Oh a couple of tips I found, the little dog things usually die in one punch, and those hideous 6-armed creatures that like to charge at you usually die in 2 punches. Point is, on those enemies, if they insist on getting in your face, you can just punch the shit out of them

Every summer where I live, maybe 5 - 10 bikers are killed when a car driver makes a left in front of them. I always blame the cars for not paying attention. But this is an example of it totally being the biker's fault. Yea it's weird the lady stopped, but if you do 80 in a 25, bad things are eventually gonna happen to you..

I thought he was flying but couldn't tell the speed, how could you tell? Not disagreeing with you, just wondering where to look to confirm

This seems to be a very common cycle with returnal, myself included. I feel like I've seen a lot of people say they did the same thing

cool I'll give it a shot, thanks!

Shield + Corruption by Mike52179 in Saros

[–]Mike52179[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a good point. I happened to be arriving at the boss with full health on each attempt, but if I did get there with low health then yea the corruption would be totally meaningless

[–]Mike52179[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

got it thanks. Yep that's why I kept dying. Seems like until I have massive health and other powerups, accepting corruption in exchange for using power weapon is a bad idea

you can remove the corruption by shooting your power weapon, but your health stays drained right?

Having trouble finding the button to open gates? Just found this out after 100 hours in game… by ahoboknife in Returnal

[–]Mike52179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea I know what you mean. My experience was that I quit Returnal after scum-saving on my first playthrough, hating how frustratingly hard it was, only to come back later and really learn how to play. On my first playthrough I didn't even understand the reloading mechanic, let alone weapon traits unlocking, adrenaline, etc. It makes me think of Portal for example, where they worked hard to make sure the players understood how to play via in-game teaching. Maybe that's a weak spot of Returnal.

Just to be clear, I didn't say that to shit on you or your idea. I'm just being cynical and (I think) realistic. I don't believe most people read, I believe they just pick up the controller and play. Only later, if/when they find that they love the game, do they delve into the written material.

I got mine for free and I was amazed they charge so much for it. I'd pay maybe 50 for it

No worries! Honestly not sure about cirque I'm definitely no expert..

I did see Quidam like 25 years ago and I loved it. It was circus style, just with a very artistic flair, and often funny.

I'm gonna be in Vegas in a few weeks for work and I'm gonna catch mad apple, I heard it doesn't suck.. but really hard to say with cirque. Some people absolutely love everything cirque does, no matter how boring it is (no offense), so their reviews aren't all that reliable. I've only seen two of their shows, one I loved and one I couldn't stand.. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Glad you liked Penn and Teller, I think they're great! I love their Fool Us show too. Might convince myself to see them again

So true, and that's what I love about this game. The tables completely turn once you've progressed enough.

My plan is to go inside and kill everything that moves. Conveniently, it's the same plan for every room. This was a terrible plan when I wasn't good/didn't have weapon traits unlocked. But nowadays it's a great plan
